Notes: Draco to Lucius.

Docile, such a clever word,
Little, timid, soft—
Six little letters to describe
Such a sad little life.

Teachable, they say,
Fragile, malleable, shaped like clay.
Teachable, though, is not what docile,
Such a timid word,
Means.

Docile—scared, soft, oh so frightened—
Six letters laughed from an angry mouth,
Eyes, such cruel eyes, burn with rage,
And the cold voice screams
“Why aren’t you more docile?”

And docilely I smile, baring
My teeth in a smirky grin—
“Because, Father, I am yours.”
And docilely I laugh,
And my eyes burn—oh, so like yours—
Docile never again.

Docilely I followed you,
But no more, never again—
I will let my passions lead me,
Not yours.
I am not docile
—six little letters that
described such a sad little life—
No, I am shedding the fear
—but never the rage—
I am shedding the pain
—but not the hate—
And becoming myself.

Your titters filled my ears,
Your laughter and cruel
Cruel eyes, shining with
Your rage and hate—
I could not escape.
But now, docile no longer,
I am free.
