I really like the owl idea, mostly because it's a combination of a symbol for knowledge/intelligence and the deadliness of a bird of prey.

I may or may not have a random plot bunny in my brain where Sam can turn into a mountain lion. *shifty eyes*

I keep trying to write it and it never comes out quite right. But I think he'd be some sort of big cat. It's the eyes and the musculature, like it would be easy for him to slide into being a panther or something in a blink of an eye.

I'm thinking some kind of large cat. It's just the way he's built and moves...reminds me of a deadly cat!

Elephant, definitely. Unless you want to write a serious story.

Elephants are wonderful creatures, but the power to turn into one in a modern environment is silly and rather impractical and likely best for the brotherly banter that we love between the Winchesters. And how do you explain it to passersby, or the motel manager?

Everything else seems a bit cliche by comparison.

Keep in mind that I am in the mood for crack right now.

I was thinking something like a panther. He's got a little bit of a dark side, so that's why I was thinking about a panther. I was glad when I saw that option on your poll. That was actually the first animal that popped into my head when I saw your poll.

Crack, I'd say a black mamba. Merely for Dean to buy him a yellow track suit and offer him a big ass katana, mind you. |D

Serious, I'd see him as a cat. I'm with ya on the snow leopard, but Sam is huge, so I can also see a white tiger.

I was thinking platypus after he has an unfortunate run-in with an evil australian aborigine witch doctor.

The outback..duh! He is hiding out in Australia because they have run out of urban legends and folk tales in the States. Besides he really likes shrimp on the barbee.
