In the fifth season, they considered revealing that he was Glory's alter ego instead of Ben. In the seventh season, they considered having Caleb kill him and the First Evil appear as him from then on. They scrapped that idea because the other characters wouldn't have enough time to grieve, so instead he lost an eye. I'm really at a loss as to why they would ever consider killing off one of the main three characters. Here's hoping they all survive Season Eight.
I'm feeling this odd need to talk about plot developments I'm glad didn't happen. There's also Michael Weatherly's proposed outline for Dark Angel Season Three in which Alec would have been seduced by a woman and betrayed the gang. Clearly he was still bitter about Alec getting a backstory episode and Logan not. Someone else's saner outline had the show going in a Max/Alec direction.
BTW, didn't you say at one time that Torchwood was on your queque?
