This story left me staring at the computer screen for a few minutes just letting all of it sink in, and feeling like I wanted to cry but didn't know where to begin. This is wonderful, and it's one of the strongest pieces of fanfiction that I've read. The ending feels like one of the sad/beautiful things that generally only come out to play with fiction itself, not in fanfics.
I'm passing the link on to friends, because stories like this deserve to be read and wondered over and discussed and admired with gape-jawed amazement that 8000 words created and destroyed a new world, and that so many little scenes could build into something that breaks the heart. Thank you for writing this, and for letting me imagine just what the price for world peace could have been.
