Okay, so midsong, my MP3 player quit working.  It had plenty of charge left.  But now it's telling me that there are no songs available for playback and to connect to a compliant software device to transfer songs. 

When I plugged it in, however, I see that all the songs are still there, they just won't play.  Does anyone have a clue as to what's wrong, or how to fix it?

What brand is it? Does it have any software you can access, or a reset button? Sounds like maybe the internal player software has gone a little nuts? I'm not sure, but if that doesn't help, try looking up the company website or googling the model and problem, see if anyone else has had the same issue. It might be as simple as needing to be turned off for 24 hours or take the battery out and put it back in, or leave it off with the battery door open in case it's gotten moisture inside.

Regardless, good luck with it, and hopefully it's one of those things that clears up with a reset or some downtime.

My mobile does that sometimes :(
I have no idea how your player operates, but I have to choose the folder once again from the main menu and then it usually works. Anyway, good luck with it!
