Prompt: Quatre, He keeps hoping the pilots can move beyond the war and what it did, but he fears the knife under his pillow will never be anywhere else...

Of them all, Quatre knows, he and Wufei have the greatest chance of moving on, blending in, letting go of the blood and the danger and... well, not the guilt, actually, but everything else that goes with it. Even if Wufei is a Preventor agent and therefore still a soldier, to some extent, he is fully recognized and sanctioned.

Heero has vanished, Trowa's about to, and Duo--well, no one really knows what Duo does, but soon enough, he'll probably go join Heero wherever Heero is.

Quatre was raised to be a businessman, not a warrior. But he still sleeps with a knife under his pillow and a gun beside his bed, he still catalogs every way in and out of a room, he still assesses the danger potential of everyone in the room, and he still thinks about how satisfying it would be to kill whoever is annoying him at the moment.

Of them all, he and Wufei should've had it the easiest settling into the peace their lost innocence wrought. But now Trowa and Duo have vanished too, probably to wherever Heero is, and Wufei told him yesterday that Une wants them found immediately before they're a danger to the world.

Quatre has a gun and a knife and his hands. He's tired of faking normal because he's not normal, he piloted Sandrock, he mastered ZERO, and Wufei will meet him tomorrow so that they can go find their brothers and maybe finally have the peace they nearly died to achieve.

Warnings: The only things I know about Barbara come from the 90s cartoon, Birds of Prey, and Batman Beyond, and I don't know anything about her reaction/relationship to/with Jason Todd. Also, I don't know the timeline. If I'm off, just consider it AU. Also also, this is based on the recent Under the Red Hood movie, because it's been awhile since I read A Death in the Family.

Prompt: DCU, Barbara Gordon, Joker, all she wanted was one hour with the Joker

She'd always thought Bruce made a mistake with Jason Todd. He was so different from Dick, so angry and dangerous, but he did seem to mature under Bruce's tutelage, to flourish. Yeah, he was a little more violent than Barbara liked, but...

Then the Joker killed him. And then the Joker shot her.

Barbara had never truly wanted to hurt someone before, to rend and tear, to rip a body apart until she was covered in blood and gore and death.

But if Batman wouldn't kill the Joker for Jason's murder, he wouldn't it for a simple loss of legs.

Dick offered; Barbara told him no. If anyone should get to kill the Joker, it ought to be Barbara, since Bruce refused and Jason was dead.

Except, it turns out... he wasn't. And whatever plan he has, it's scaring the criminals of Gotham and driving Bruce mad, and then, then--

The Joker is out of Arkham.

Barbara had always thought Bruce made a mistake in Jason Todd. Now, she wishes him luck and fantasizes about getting her own hour with the Joker.

Prompt: Dean/Jack, Jack was tempted to let this man have his way with him.

Jack does not like men touching him. That's been true since he was four and—yeah, not going there. But he doesn't like men, and he doesn't like men touching him, and if Bobby—who is not a man, but his brother—was here, then this douchebag wouldn't be looking at Jack like he's a piece of meat.

Jack knows that look. Jack hates that look. Worse, Jack fears that look, like he's still four, but he's not, and he left home and Ma, and Bobby's not here, and Jerry and Angel aren't here, and—

"Hey, kiddo, sorry I'm late," someone says, dropping onto the stool next to him. "The boss was being a dickhead, but I got away soon as a I could."

Jack stares at him blankly for a minute, taking in the warm hazel eyes and smartass smile, before nodding. "'s'kay, man, I think I was early."

They make smalltalk, the kind two friends who haven't seen each other in a while might, and the douchebag's stare shifts to the stranger, and Jack relaxes because this guy, whatever his name is, he can clearly take care of himself.

In fact, he reminds Jack of Bobby. For a moment, Jack even thinks about letting this man touch him, but whoever he is, he's not a brother.

Wordcount: 150
Point of view: third
Prompt: shapeshifter (author's choice), being human

She wants to be beautiful, like every other woman. She wants to be loved and respected, and when all three of those dreams fail because, like Ma said, she's a monster ugly so go away, leave me alone, you're not my daughter

not my daughter

I couldn't've birthed somethin' like you

Well. She's not pretty, and no one likes her, and no one will ever respect her if they can't even look at her.

But she is strong, and she is so very clever, and so she changes. It's hard and it hurts, but she changes, becomes someone else, sheds her skin and is suddenly beautiful.

And if people only like her for her looks, she'll still never be respected.

And if people won't respect her, then, like Ma said, she'll just be a monster and let the world fear her.

Fear's better than love anyway, because fear will never go away.
