So, pretend you're seventeen and you just found out you'll never age again, you'll never grow old, and anytime you die, you'll come right back.  Your boyfriend is the same, and he knew beforehand.   Y'all both died in a car accident a few months ago.

What you don't know: he killed you on purpose.  The accident was intentional, to wake you up. 


Would you react differently, knowing or not knowing it was intentional?

I think it really depends on the characters and their relationship beforehand. Also, no matter what, that's a huge issue of consent and honesty. It makes the boyfriend automatically suspicious.

If you didn't know it was intentional then he murdered you and yeah, that's pretty fucked up.

If you did know it was intentional then you apparently agreed to it so that makes it suicide. Also fucked up.

If it was accidental, and I knew, then oops! Lemme pop you upside the head for being a bad driver, and then...we got fallout to deal with.

If it was accidental, and I didn't know, I'd still be upset he hadn't told me something so important; but I think I could understand that he was waiting for a good time to let me know. That's some pretty big news there, and I don't think it would ever be easy to just dump on somebody.


If it was intentional, and I knew and agreed to it, tell me why I did so-did I set my affairs in order, was I trying to get away from something in my life, did it work? etc

If it was intentional, and and I knew and didn't agree to it-then, hello, EX-BOYFRIEND, here's my boot up your ass!

*hee* But what if he beat the shit out of someone assaulting you right before you learned you couldn't really die?

Yeah, I figure the character will start wondering after the instant heat-of-the-moment passes.

He doesn't know it was intentional, but he'll realize soon that the boyfriend knew before the 'accident', which has bad implications.

... there will most likely be a less-than-favorable reaction to that, if I write that far. Or possibly a third part to cover that, I'm yet unsure.

The 'accident' was on purpose. The narrator had no idea about immortality. The boyfriend did, and made the decision that the narrator should be young and beautiful forever (with him) and then has no idea how to inform the narrator of it.

There's no good way to tell someone you murdered them for YOUR benefit, in hopes they'd think the other fringe benefits of youth and beauty were enough to appease you.

Any way he can not tell her and they "discover" it together? Gosh, I'm an immortal, had NO IDEA you were, too-how lucky for us both!

Did he plan the accident out or was it a spur of the moment insanity defense?

I'd grill him on all the information he know then research it myself.

Either way we're taking a break and I'll be trying to figure out who I really am without him.

No, I really don't want a flat-out lie, plus the narrator noticed a few oddities here and there, making it obvious (in hindsight) that he was much older than he appeared. And he had always planned to tell, if that counts for anything. Things just happened sooner than anticipated and he couldn't lie about it without making the future fallout worse.

And I don't think he'll ever admit that 'accident' was on purpose. Just that he knew the narrator was like him. (Which, of course, will lead to wondering anyway.)

He'd always intended to kill the narrator. But the 'accident' itself was spur-of-the-moment. The easiest way, if you will.

By the time the narrator realizes the accident was actually fatal, it's months later.

It would take a long time for me to ever trust him again. And depending on the world we live in, their family, friends and the character's basic personality it could be never.

Either way it would still be upsetting to be a hormonal and underage seventeen forever. That is seriously not an ideal age to be immortal.

Like other people have said, it would depend on the relationship with the guy while mortal. Among many other things, did he get me killed to keep me in the relationship? Probably it would be a relationship killer, and depending on his motives subsequent actions, I might end up findng a sword and going after his head.

No, the relationship was going strong before the 'accident,' and continued to do so after the miracle of both walking away without a scratch from a totaled car.

And if it helps, the boyfriend knew it was wrong.
