I do. It sounds great in theory, but it just slows everything down. And, really, the only way a tree would be largely helpful in categorizing prompts is if the poor host could create a grouping for every single fandom there is, which would take, oh, all day... :p I worry that the tree will discourage prompts outside of the most popular fandoms because people won't want to take the time to figure out where their prompt shpould go or accidentally put something in the wrong place.
Also, it's making me not want to host. Having to leave all those fandom comments will take such a long time - who would want to do that while running out the door to go to work?
And I don't want to go look at yesterday's prompts because I'll have to thread the comments.
I remember the mods mentioning it some months ago, but no one really explained what the changes would be.
And I noticed that no comments had been added to yesterday's post since midday, so I really do hope they don't insist on keeping the stupid comment-tree.
It's particularly annoying because not only do I need to chose which branch to look at or to post to, but I can no longer just scan the prompts, now I get to "expand" each one. Hmph.
In theory it's a great idea, and I've seen it work before, but it made so much more sense when we could actually have subject lines. And as others said, it will discourage the smaller fandoms, which are most of the ones I like. I mean, not many people besides me like Waiting for Godot and Company.
gileonnen hosted a Big Gay Hamlet Ficathon (http://gileonnen.livejournal.com/512838.html?view=5942342#t5942342) back in September, and she set it up so each character had a branch. But back then we still had subject headings, so it was really easy to scan the comments and see Horatio-> Horatio/Hamlet-> Evil Mastermind Horatio-> FILL even if all the comments were collapsed.
I realize it's a very different case when there are multiple fandoms and genres, but that's roughly what a good comment tree looks like.
