Prompt: Supernatural, Gabriel +or/ Sam, After Broward County and realizing Sam wasn't going to accept his lesson, Gabriel decides to go and help Sam when Dean goes to Hell.

He waits until the kid buries Dean. He's not a brother now, but he was one for a long time, and he knows that if he steps in too soon, all that rage and despair will turn on him - and he can survive it, no question there. But the kid? He'll burn himself out.

Dean shouldn't be buried. But he watches the kid dig the hole and put his brother in the ground, and he watches the kid drive away in his brother's jacket and his brother's car, his brother's necklace around his neck, and then with a glance, he incinerates the corpse but leaves the box untouched.

What's dead should stay dead. And the kid will kill him if he ever learns, but, well.

Dean wouldn't want to come back anyway.

.

At first, he watches from afar. Things are happening that shouldn't be, things are moving, and it's all centered on the kid. Sam Winchester.

Coyote knows his brother when he sees him, and Lucifer's print is all over the kid. Just like Michael had been in Dean's blood.

There is nothing angelic, fallen or otherwise, that can keep an angel from slipping inside a human, if given permission.

But Coyote hasn't been an angel in a long time, and he's picked up a few tricks dirtside.

.

"Hey, Sam," he says on the three week mark. The demon's been making her way closer to Sam, and so Coyote decides it's time. He'll kill her when she shows up, but better safe than sorry, anyway.

Sam's drunk, but he looks at Coyote for barely a moment before his eyes widen. "You!" he slurs, lunging for Coyote. "You killed my brother!"

Coyote could smirk, could joke, could turn Sam into a Labrador and keep him as a pet.

Instead he hangs limp in Sam's grasp and says, "Things are happening, kid. I need you sober."

Sam's sober, but his hands tighten on Coyote's shirt. "What do you want with me?" he demands.
Coyote can feel the power rising in him.

Azazel's blood. Lucifer's vessel.

Dean's brother. Dean's amulet around his neck, the tiny little charm that can summon the greatest of all things, if used right.

"There's a war coming, Sam," Coyote tells him softly. "And, I'm sorry, I really am." He doesn't say, You'll understand, one day, why your brother couldn't be here for this.

Yeah, Sam'll understand. But he won't forget, and he'll never forgive, and Coyote loves his siblings, his brothers and sisters, he really does. But if they don't choose right, he can't save them.

Sam's not going to burn down the world. Once he's back on his feet, back fighting-fit, he's going straight for Heaven, and he's going to destroy everything that gets in his way.

Gabriel left because he didn't want to hurt his family. His family never felt the same.

Sam's brother is dead and he's not coming back.

Coyote lets his wings out and wraps them around the kid as the kid collapses, sobbing.

"I'm sorry," Coyote says again.

.

(In Hell, Dean screams for his brother and Alistair laughs.)

Clint almost didn't take the shot. He was aiming for mid-center torso, where he knew Fury had body-armor - and then the blue pulsed, as Loki of Asgard stumbled, and Clint's heart beat only for Loki.

So he adjusted his aim and sent a bullet straight into Fury's remaining eye.

.

With Hill and Fury dead, Coulson was Acting Director. Half of the agents on the Helicarrier died either because of the explosions or the Hulk's rampage.

Clint killed many himself on his way to Loki's scepter, and when Black Widow got in his way, already wounded from the Hulk, he didn't pull his punches.

He spared her life once. But that was before his heart beat in time with Loki's, and they were on a timetable, here.

Clint could never beat Natasha in a fair fight. But neither of them has ever fought fair. She was a hair too slow and Clint's knife sliced across her neck.

He didn't look back as he left her bleeding out on the walkway.

.

The helicarrier crashed into the ocean and Clint piloted their stolen quinjet to New York.

With the tesseract, Loki opened the doorway and massacred the Chitauri army as it came through. Clint picked off any survivors.

"This is my world," Loki said, shattering the scepter and cradling the tesseract. Clint stood beside him, waiting for Loki's orders, and Loki glanced at him with a smile. "To think," Loki mused, making the tesseract vanish with a twist of his wrist, "you almost hesitated, my hawk."

"Yes, sir," Clint admitted. He could not lie to Loki. Would not.

"Let us go explore this realm of ours," Loki said. He looked at Selvig for just a moment, then at Clint. "No loose ends," he murmured, so Clint dealt with it, and then waited.

Loki nodded. "Let us depart," he said, and headed for the quinjet.

Clint followed, ignoring all the alien corpses littering Manhattan.

.

Acting Director Coulson reported to the World Council and found himself without a job.

After Bruce Banner woke up, he went back to running because he'd told them how badly bringing him in would go.

Thor could find no trace of his brother, and without the tesseract, he had no way of getting home, so he pledged himself to Coulson, even though Coulson had been removed from SHIELD. There was no one else on Midgard he felt trustworthy.

Steve Rogers stayed with SHIELD because he believed Loki's rampage to be his fault and saw no way to atone.

Tony Stark and Natasha Romanova both died on the Helicarrier.

And Loki planned and plotted and waited for Thanos to arrive. He'd point Thanos to Asgard first, and after Thanos burnt it down, he'd strike.

Clint built him a new army and killed whoever needed killing, and it honestly wasn't that different a life from what he'd had before. Definitely wasn't a bad one.

The blue pulsed in the back of his mind, and his heart beat in time with Loki's, and Loki smiled at him. It couldn't really get better than that.

Prompt: Any, Any, Wolves In The Walls

There was nothing to be done for Nari; he was too far gone. Sleipnir was tethered to Odin Child-Stealer, and Jörmungandr bound to all waters. Father was broken in both body and spirit, and Hel out of reach.

But Váli. Fenrir could do something for Váli.

.

The child was crying. Odin Terror-Bringer had returned Váli's mind after Nari's body lay with Father's, and for that Fenrir will exact retribution.

Váli was curled into as small a ball as possible, whimpering and whining, and Fenrir could do nothing but settle next to him.

It will be alright, brother, Fenrir promised, mind-to-mind, on the thought-road all of Loki's offspring could traverse.

Váli didn't react at all, but that was fine.

.

Eventually, the child calmed. He raised his head to look at Fenrir, and Fenrir leaned in to lick his muzzle.

Come, brother, Fenrir said, standing. We have far to go and much to plan.

But Nari
, Váli said. I can't leave him.

Gods, the child sounded young.

Odin One-Eyed would die.

We can do nothing for him now, Fenrir said gently.

Váli howled, head thrown back in pain and rage, and Fenrir joined him, wolf-voice deeper and darker, so much older.

Once, Odin All-Deciever had tried to silence Fenrir forever, bound away in a forgotten cave with a poisoned sword in his mouth.

But now Fenrir's voice rolled throughout the realms and the sun shuddered in the sky. Heimdallr was blind to Fenrir, and would be forever more – the last gift Father could give.

We shall have vengeance, Fenrir swore to his younger brother. Come with me now.

Váli let his head drop back down as he stood, not even half as large as Fenrir. Yes, brother, he whispered, sounding so small, so tired.

One day, on the morning of Ragnarök's dawn, Fenrir would destroy Odin Wolf-Enemy. As he led Váli to the path between worlds, he made the oath in their father's name. Jörmungandr and Hel and Sleipnir echoed the vow on the thought-road, and then Father said, So shall it be done.

Nari said nothing. Váli followed Fenrir silently. And Fenrir let loose one more howl, and Odin Spear-Shaker felt a shudder go down his spine as he passed judgments in his golden hall.

Prompt: Merlin, Merlin and other characters, Uther has the young wizard executed and his death has dire consequences.

A spark is lit.

.

The thing about magic is this - it cannot be thwarted for long. Magic is in everything, whether acknowledged or not, and one fearful king cannot destroy it.

If he believes the last dragon in the world is chained under the castle, that is his decision.

If he believes true sorcerers allow themselves to be executed, he is even more of a fool.

.

The spark ignites into a conflagration.

.

A young warlock allows himself to be led to the chopping block, eyes on his prince. His future king has his lips pressed tight, fingers clenched, and stares straight ahead. He does not look over as the executioner shoves the warlock to his knees.

The king gives the order.

The prince closes his eyes.

.

The conflagration billows out into the world and nothing in its path is safe.

.

Magic cannot be thwarted.

Merlin lets himself die because his prince gave no commands otherwise.

At the moment of his last breath, a child is conceived in the womb of a woman in the far south.

Within a year, a girl will be born, whose eyes flash gold with magic's fire.

.

The world burns.

.

Eowyn never meets Arthur, but she does wed Mordred beneath a blooded moon.

Morgana is driven mad by visions of should-have-been, and Gaius leaves Camelot heartbroken, because while he still loves his king, he cannot respect the man Uther has become.

Albion is never united.

Dragons return furious and cities are lit aflame, and before it is done, magic reclaims the earth.

.

From the ashes, a new world rises.

Sam doesn't bury or burn him. Because Dean's come back before. Dean always comes back.

Dean never gets up.

Sam never stops waiting, until the time he goes down and bleeds out alone in the basement of a haunted house.

.

Sam never stopped waiting.

The one with Clint and Loki and the one with Loki's children were both shudder inducing. Well done.

Nnnnnnrg, that Avengers AU! Sometimes I just love to wallow in a good doom-and-gloom.

"No loose ends," he murmured, so Clint dealt with it, and then waited. Love the cruel sterility of that, just love it!

Absolutely adore clinical logic of "This is the end of everything". Cold and grim but at the same time you can't help and cheer for the villain.
