If the rose won't wilt 'til his 21st birthday, how old was the prince when he was cursed?

Also, where were his parents? And why did the prince open the door himself?

I kinda want to write dark AUs for all of the Disney movies, and here's how I could see it going for this one:

Maurice is put into the sanitarium immediately after getting back after Belle took his place. He dies there.

When Belle looks into the mirror, she sees him in a pauper’s grave.

Things devolve into Twisted Princess Belle from there.

Sooo many relevent questions. I only have an answer to one: bb!Beast was 11 when he was cursed. The rose wilted during the timeframe of the movie so he was 21, and during 'Be Our Guest' Lumiere said they'd been like that for 10 years. So the Enchantress cursed a 11 boy for being what most 11 year old boys are: a little shit.

Yes, but then when he turned human again he would have been ooold and we can't have that, can we. He was cooler when he was a walking shag rug anyway.

There's a clawed picture of Prince Adam in the movie, and he looks older than 11, though, practically the same as when he changes back. It's possible that Lumiere's "ten years we've been rusting" line refers to not having entertained anyone for longer than they've been enchanted, perhaps due to the prince's narcissistic ways.

I'd say he's around 14ish? Early puberty, anyway.

That makes me think: how old is Chip, exactly? Did he spend more of his life as a teacup than a boy?

That picture is one of the reasons I've always wondered about his age.

And blaming on 11 year old for narcissism is just shoddy writing.

As for Chip? There must have been some sort of non-aging component for everything that wasn't the prince, otherwise he still wouldn't have been a little kid.

And that makes me think someone should revoke the fairy's right to go around cursing people.

Or Chip was an infant when the curse hit, since it was clearly less than 10 years. Which is twisted.

That's what she does, I guess. No one said she was Good. Even when fairies are helpful, there's generally something off about them.
