update in the break-in saga

Today, Mom stayed home to catalog her stuff. The thieves took her perfume and a single earring from about a dozen pairs. Yes, they picked through her jewelry boxes and took half of multiple earrings. Instead of taking all of the jewelry. And they left behind the most valuable pieces, but not the most sentimental, which sucks.

Me and tigris_lilsis think this is the time to call in the profilers.

Sadly this sounds like the work of teenagers, some one in your neighborhood. The theft of one of each earring sounds like trophies to be "cool" If they didn't take the valuable stuff. Could be someone you guys know on the fringe. Who's been to your house lately who you don't know very well or a "friend" of one of your friends.

But no one who isn't family ever goes over to the house, at least, not since tigris_lilsis moved out.

The thing about trophies makes the most sense, though.

Hold on to the 'leftovers' and see who says something like "Oh, we could make xyz out of these." Like turning an earring into a necklace or a bracelet charm or something. Then the pieces you give away will never again be seen as any other piece of jewelry and you'll know who took the first half of the pairs in order to get things your mom wasn't willing to part with yet.

Either that, or start checking the guys in your hood. Someone who likes to dress up and doesn't want to admit it to himself.

Perfume is a scent thing. Memories, I feel pretty because I smell pretty vibes...

Uhm...yeah....I'll go away now. No calling out the guarda....
