Warnings: spoilers for season 2. Character death(yes, again). AU for the future, I'm willing to bet.

“The night before you were born,” Dean says, looking over at the horizon, “Dad made brownies. He followed Mom’s recipe to the letter; I watched him. But they still tasted like crap.” Dean chuckles. “Mom smiled and ate a plateful; even though they were bitter, I did, too. Dad was so happy, then he tried one—God, his expression was beautiful.”
He’s dead, Dean.
Dean shakes his head, then shivers, but he keeps on talking. “It was a good night, Sammy. Mom and Dad danced, twirled ‘round and ‘round—then, Dad picked me up and held me between them, and it was perfect.” He pauses and harshly swipes at his eyes. “It was perfect, Sammy.”
Dean, I’m sorry, but this is all the time I can give you.
The sun sets and Dean doesn’t move, doesn’t fight the men that grab his arms and pull him to his feet, lead him away.
I’m sorry, Dean.
Glancing back over his shoulder, Dean meets Hendrickson’s dark, regretful eyes. Dean nods, then his gaze goes to the body lying by Hendrickson’s feet. The expression on his face is unreadable, carved from granite, and his gaze rises back to Hendrickson.
I’m sorry, Dean.
Dean nods once more and faces what’s coming, leaving Hendrickson with Sam. He doesn’t fight the police, he doesn’t fight the restraints, he just… breathes.
Hendrickson wonders how long till Dean snaps, but maybe… he looks down at Sam’s body, watches the guys bag him and carry him off, stares up at the sky. Bonnie to your Clyde, he says again and shakes his head, laughs a broken little laugh.
At least Bonnie and Clyde died together.
Hendrickson walks down the slight hill and climbs into his car, doesn’t look back.
