Ben first dreamed of a little brother the night he escaped Manticore. He collapsed in the snow miles from the facility, more exhausted and exhilarated than he’d ever been before, and he dreamed of himself as a brother, watching out for a little boy named Sammy.
He woke and felt cheated to be alone.

Ben began enjoying sleep, because it continued the adventures of him and Sammy. Sammy always called him Dean, but Ben didn’t mind. He’d never been alone before the break out, and whenever he dreamed about Sammy, he wasn’t lonely anymore.

The years passed and in his dreams Sammy grew into Sam. Ben searched everywhere he went, looking for green eyes and floppy dark hair. He turned to his goddess for aid, but she didn’t respond. He began hunting for sacrifices for her, hoping to please her.
Then one night, Ben dreamed of Dean’s death. Sam collapsed beside Dean’s body, screaming for his brother to wake up, but Dean didn’t respond.
There were no more dreams after that.
Zach had told Ben that Max—the favorite of his sisters—had territory in Seattle, so Ben went there. She was family, and he sorely wanted family.
He wanted Sammy, the closeness Dean—the man with his face—and Sam had, but he’d never get it. He had no blood connections.

When Max snapped his neck, Ben thought he’d die. There was no pain, just… nothing. And then he found a soft light and a lady in a blue robe who told him to go back, he wasn’t finished yet.
You have a twin brother, Benjamin, she said. He is still held prisoner in Manticore. Save him.
            Ben promised, I will, Lady.
She smiled, and her dark eyes shifted to a holy yellow. I know you will, my child. You always were my special boy.

Ben woke in a plastic bag and clawed his way out quickly. Alone in a van—on the way back for study, no doubt. So they could figure out what went wrong with him.
But he knew, now—the Blue Lady was real. And she had given him a mission. He would obey her command, prove himself worthy of her favor. He would save his brother.

Ben heard Lydecker order for him to be taken to the lab. There’d be no guard; after all, he was dead. Just two technicians carrying his body. Ben hid back in the bag, holding it closed. He allowed them to move him and waited till it was just him and the doctor.
He killed the doctor swiftly and tracked down the main office. His brother would either be 492 or 494, and he needed to find out where.
Three guards in the office, and four technicians. He ripped through them like paper, then hacked the system.
X5-494, recently failed his first long-term mission, being held in the basement of the very facility Ben stood in.
Ben wasted no time. The alarm had yet to be raised, and he ghosted his way down, sidestepping guards and scientists. When he got to the cells, he listened for heartbeats. And there it was: his twin’s pulse, slow and steady.
You’ll need a name, Ben thought as he keyed in the code.
The door opened and Ben got his first look at his mirror image, huddled in the far corner, nearly comatose.
Ben stepped in, keeping his movements calm. “Hey, little brother,” he murmured, kneeling before his twin. “I’ve come to get you out of here.”
Eyes identical to his own blinked and focused on him. “Escape?” his brother rasped.
Ben nodded. “C’mon, Sammy,” he said, holding out a hand. “You have to make the first move—I’ll take care of the rest.”
His twin studied his hand before lifting his own.

In a prison of blood and flesh and bone and fear, a yellow-eyed shadow howled—whether with mirth or pain, no one but it knew.

Okay, that? Rocked my world. I so love Ben and Alec together when it's done right. And Alec as Sammy is beyond cool. And just--they could take over the world together.

Very cool. Love how you've brought in Dean and Sam and the YED forward into DA with Ben's dreams. And I love how you use Ben's Blue Lady. Awesome. The world should be afraid.

This is excellent. What a great premise - Alec as Sammy. As much as i love SPN/DA crosses, so few are done well. This has a lot of promise - I hope you will continue.

That was made of AWESOME! Very much made of awesome. Haven't read many fics where Ben lived and he and Alec actually got to be brothers...this was a good way to start off for me I guess. :-)

And the introduction of YED...nice!

Oh wow! This is the first Supernatural/Dark Angel crossover that I've read and I absolutely love it. I really hope you decide to continue this.

I have linked to this at [livejournal.com profile] bobbyslibrary. I hope that's ok.

This was certainly a new twist to Spn/DA-crossovers... ;)
And I like it. Now, though... mixing the Lady with the YED... You're an evil woman.

Maybe I'll give a shot, one of these days, then. ;)

Mary - Blue Lady - YED - Mary... a vicious circle if there ever was one, but also, apparently, maddeningly fitting.

More! Moremoremore!!!!!

I love Ben stories, and I haven't yet read one where the Blue Lady is actually real. Veeery intriguing!

Also, i'll have a hell of a time reminding myself that 'Alec' is 'Sam' but, hey... I'll live (if you write more, mind you)

Now go! *points imperiously to nearest computer* I command thee to write!

Oh, just so you know, you've got me writing something based off of this. Like RIGHT NOW when I should be going to bed. But noooo, I have to write this thing that's attacking me from all sides. Hope you don't mind me taking your idea and running with it.

Want to see what I have so far?

He never asked the question of how he escaped death, figured faith was something to never be questioned, but Sammy, oh Sammy boy always asked. Always tried to understand how he came for him. He always smile,
“She sent me to you, Sam. You’re why I’ll never die.”
Sammy always smirks and says something about probably being too stubborn to die, or perhaps Maxie being off her game so long on the outside. Ben wonders sometimes if he should take Sam to see Max, but always ends up figuring against it, wouldn’t do any good for her to see two ghosts, let alone one.
Sam adapts appropriately well to outside life. Always keeps a blade on his person at all times, in the same way and place as Ben; the back of the left boot. They never carry a gun. Ben thinks their presence gives an easy out, and he’s always been one for a struggle; Sammy doesn’t mind either. Though he sometimes misses the feel of metal between his fingers, nights like those Sammy finds himself crossing from one sector to another without a pass. No man ever manages to stop him. Ben would, if he weren’t laughing himself into a seizure at the sight of six armor clad men being broken in half as though they were candy canes.
Ben always manages to find some ice cream for his Sammy after nights like those. The cold cream feels like angels singing upon split lips. A reward for such an efficient take down, Sammy laughs and nearly eats the whole cone in three bites. Cuffing his little brother in the head, Ben tells him to slow down. Sammy, using the cone in a threatening gesture says they don’t know who was first, could be him instead of Ben who is older. Which Ben responds with a blank stare and a mumble under the breath about brothers who can’t count.
The first hunt doesn’t come for a long while. Ben wants to make sure Sammy’s ready, and he’s just fine teaching his brother about life outside that he almost forgets about the darkness within him which the Blue Lady always protects him from. He’s got time before She needs him to be a soldier again.

He dreams in shades of reds, blacks, and yellows, colors of bile and blood and all Ben can think of is when it’s his turn to paint with those colors, and not the man with the choleric eyes.

They dance around the country for so long, Ben begins to loose track of time and the dreams become harder to keep behind the line that defines sleep from awake. One morning, while reading a newspaper he finds his dream written down and knows: the separation is over. The Blue Lady needs him to act once again. He takes his Sammy for a hunt the next day, and though it takes a bit of coaxing from Ben, he too takes to the thrill like a good soldier should.
The Blue Lady would be very pleased.

That's what I have so far.

oh I love how you had Ben connected with Dean in that way and how he wanted what 'Dean and Sam' had in his dreams. It's weird thinking 494 as 'Sammy' but I see why he'd pick that name.

Manipulative YED!!!

Nicely done!
