They never had much, those Winchester boys, but I always knew they’d be fine. Seemed like they’d go to each fight ready for anythin’, and they always came out the other side—scratched up and bloody and damn near bruised all over, but alive.
Wasn’t nothin’ on God’s green Earth that could keep those boys—men—down for long. They’d take licks that would kill other hunters and just smile. And what a smile it was! Any woman alive would melt. Most men, too.
Been awhile since I heard from any of ‘em, but—they’re fine. Of course, they’re fine.

The night after Dean kills The Demon, Sam dreams of a cross on fire. A deep voice calls him Sacrilege and Sam flinches, shuddering. “You shouldn’t be here, walking blasphemy,” the voice—male, dark, thundering—continues. “Only the Son has ever woken from death, or caused others to wake.”
“I’m sorry,” Sam cries, tears welling in his eyes. “I didn’t mean to come back, but I had to!” He whirls in place, looking for the speaker. “I couldn’t leave Dean alone.”
The voice scoffs. “You had a choice, Samuel. You should have stayed gone. You would’ve been happy there.”
Sam lifts his head. “I’d rather defy God than let Dean down.”
He wakes to the speaker snarling, “You’ll watch the world burn, Sacrilege.”
But he sits up and sees Dean grinning, happy and free from that stifling weight he’d been carrying for nearly twenty-five years, and Sam can’t find it in him to care what the voice has to say.

After he got his body back, after he’d seen to Dean’s wounds(ignore big brother’s flinch, it wasn’t there, it wasn’t), Sam took an hour-long shower, waiting till the scalding water became cold. He stood beneath the spray, scrubbing at his flesh, trying to get clean.
He scrubbed himself raw, but it did no good. He scrubbed himself raw, but he was still dirty.
Dean shuffled in a few minutes after Sam began crying, wearing only boxers, the bandage bright on his golden skin. He met Sam’s eyes and stepped into the shower, taking the washcloth from Sam’s lax grip.
“It wasn’t you,” he said, as he ran the soaked cloth across Sam’s shoulders. “You had no control. You fought.” He turned Sam around, absolution in his touch. “It wasn’t you.”

When he finally gets in the same room as Dean Winchester, the man isn’t what he expects.
Oh, he’s a cocky sum’bitch, alright, no doubt of that. But Victor had thought he’d be a racist asshole—based on all the information of his childhood, he should be a sexist, white supremacist terrorist.
And Winchester blows right through all of Victor’s preconceived notions with that damned smirk.
“So, your daddy,” Victor says. “Let’s talk about him.”
Winchester raises his head. “How about we don’t.”
Victor doesn’t smirk, but it’s a close thing. “He spent a lot of time off the grid—we don’t know what he was doin’. We can guess, though.” Victor watches Winchester closely. “Ex-marine, right? Real dangerous guy. Trained you and your brother to follow him, to take up his beliefs.”
Winchester says, “You’re borin’ me, Vic.”
“But Sam—he left. He got out, and you couldn’t let him go.” Something flickers in Winchester’s eyes and Victor continues, “Did you kill his girlfriend, like that poor woman in St. Louis? He’s yours, isn’t he? Been yours since the two’a you were boys.”
Winchester shakes his head. “You have all these beliefs about me, agent, and ain’t a one of ‘em true.”
The lady lawyer—something Daniels—strides in and kicks Victor out, but he knows he rattled Winchester. He wants to go talk with baby brother Sam, but Daniels forbids it.
It isn’t until later that night when Victor realizes Winchester didn’t blink at his race. Not a single comment about it.
But he has his conclusions about Winchester, and he hushes the little voice that tells him he’s wrong.

Date: 2007-10-03 11:44 pm (UTC)Nicely done. I particularly liked this line:
Any woman alive would melt. Most men, too.
No one can resist them! *g*
Her stockings are torn, but she is beautiful
Also nicely done. :)
Favorite lines:
A deep voice calls him Sacrilege and Sam flinches, shuddering.
Oh, Sam. Poor guy carries the weight of the world so much of the time.
But he sits up and sees Dean grinning, happy and free from that stifling weight he’d been carrying for nearly twenty-five years, and Sam can’t find it in him to care what the voice has to say.
Yeah, Sam now measures a lot of his own happiness/contentment by Dean. I think he can withstand a lot as long as Dean’s OK.
cleansing
Poor, poor Sam!
Favorite lines:
He scrubbed himself raw, but it did no good. He scrubbed himself raw, but he was still dirty.
Oh, Sam. What he did while possessed would definitely weigh heavily on him for a while. I wish the show had explored that more.
He turned Sam around, absolution in his touch.
Nicely phrased.
misconceptions
Nicely done. I really like the POV here.
Favorite lines:
Winchester says, “You’re borin’ me, Vic.”
*g* I love Dean being snarky with him.
Been yours since the two’a you were boys.”
True, that.

"He's all right, isn't he?"
I don't really know what to make of this first ficlet here. On one hand, it's hopeful in tone. On the other... we know how screwed the boys are. And that thought turns this rather depressing.
Oh well... I like it anyway.
The second's certainly a thought. Considering what a messiah syndrome Sam's character seems to have, it's even fitting.
The third is the one I like the best of all these. It's based on BUABS, it has Sam in shower, Dean all delightful and it's short and all but sweet. *adores*
...not to mention Dean's firm belief in that Sam fought...
And Hendrickson...
I so wish there'll be an episode about him during S3. Granted, I'm also hoping that they'll make an outside-POV episode, one of these days, but... ;)
The idea of what Hendrickson thinks about the Winchesters is delicious to ponder on. Once more, you write it all nicely and so that it's plausible, and Dean's cocksureness is always a delight. :)
Thank you again for delightful ficlets!
