            He watches the sun peek over the horizon. The sky is dark pink and purple and blue, with hints of gold and orange. It’s a cool morning, with a nice breeze off the Canyon. If it were any other day…

            The Impala’s hood is cold against his palm. His jeans are ripped, his shirt torn, hair still ruffled from his brother’s last touch. The space beside him, once filled with fire and life, is empty. 

            A part of him wants to lunge over the side, the car with him.

            He’s alone.

            The world feels barren, but the sun still rises.
