So, today I started a novel and dropped a class.  I've begun novels before, but this is the first time I've dropped a class.  I actually called Mom to find out if I'm stupid, since I'm giving up.

*sigh*  Anyway, the novel.  I have hopes for it.  Don't know how much I'll actually write, since I have the untitled Dean as a Burmese Mountain Dog epic going on... but, it's fun, you know?

I hope that dropping the class works out well for you. And the novel. Some classes just aren't right for some people, so don't be discouraged. It's obvious that you're not stupid.

Don't feel bad about dropping the class. It happens to just about everybody.

And good luck with the novel!

If a class isn't right, then it isn't right.

Oh hell, I changed an entire course in my first year. Then an entire college

Don't feel like a lumphead, there was one course I wished I had been in time to drop.

Introduction to Cultural Anthropology. Only it wasn't the course that was problematic (I like the subject), it was the poor teaching and grading methods. Oh well, it's over.

Getting a Livejournal sounds interesting, but I'm not sure about everything involved in maintaining one. I'll have to research it before making a decision. Are there expenses? And I'm afraid it might encourage me to spend more time on the computer (which I already spend a lot of time on) and less on schoolwork. Thanks for the advice.

Again, best wishes regarding your writing and your courses, and P.S. I left a comment on your Rantity Rant Rant post. I only mention it in case it goes overlooked, as that post is no longer on the front page.

One thing I learned at college is that you have to allow yourself to let go without blame. Sometimes you bite off more than you can chew. It's okay to ease the load. You're going to try a lot of new and hard stuff. It's okay if you don't succeed with all of them. It's not failure, you know?

Dropping a class is normal. I think everyone's made some sort of call like that. You're not giving up. You're just changing paths.

If it's better for you, then that's all that matters.

Dude, I dropped two classes every single semester in college, without fail. Seriously. I could name them all if I excavated my filing cabinet. YOU ARE NOT STUPID! You are chosing to focus your attention on the things which are of more value to you, and that is self-aware enlightenment, and enlightenment is never stupid. So there. *nods* ;-P
