Is that when it’s finally too late?
Or was it too late earlier, when blood pooled on his tongue, dark blood, bad blood, demon blood—blood of fire and wind, blood of death and despair?
Was it too late when he was born, conceived?
Was it always too late?
Oh, yes, from the beginning he was lost… gorgeously, gloriously lost in the flames.
