eleventh of the icon drabbles
title from Anne Sexton
how do the demons and monsters feel?

They were once many, scattered all over the world. They were countless, and there were always more.
They were once many, but then the Hunters came with spells and curses, with silver and salt, with holy words.
They were once many. Now they are few, hunted nearly to extinction. Now they are shadows and myth, known only by those who hunt them, who kill them for their nature.
They once were many, children of the night. Now they are few, hidden and forgotten, hiding from the day.

Good use of the icon as a spinning-off point. I like the lyrical feel to it, especially this bit:

They once were many, children of the night. Now they are few, hidden and forgotten, hiding from the day.

Nicely done.

The dark ones who were once many and are now few, hiding from the light, is kind of a cliche but your writing makes it sound interesting. One could almost feel for them, if they weren't horrifying monsters.

I wonder if what almost happened to the vampires is true for some other mythical critter in Supernatural...

That icon inspiring this is pure genius. And wolves. Gotta love wolves.
