I feel like my creativity well has dried up.  I've spent the last three days reading Harry Potter fanfiction and writing a single, barely 1000 words "Supernatural" fic, despite the OODLES of prompts I have lying around.

So.  *sighs*

I signed up for that [profile] abouttwoboysficathon, doing a rewrite of Where The Heart Is.  Should Sam or Dean be the single father?

I vote Dean. I don't actually know anything about the movie, but if there is a single father involved, my vote is Dean.

Thanks! I couldn't rationalize keeping using this one as my default anymore :)

My first thought was Sam... but then when I thought about it, I've seen daddy Sam/Jared a lot... so I think I'll go with Dean. (though really either would work for me)

Even though he may not always act like a responsible adult, I think Dean would make the better parent.

Dean understands children. We saw this in DiTW, SW, and TKAAR. He is also a caregiver. This we saw more of in season one, with Sam. How he was grabby-hands when Sam got injured or always keeping Sam behind him when they entered a danger zone, Dean was always looking out for his wellbeing. And Sam let him.

This is nothing against Sam. Far from it. This was just the way things had always been and change comes slowly. But it did come. And Sam turned out to be a great partner and a good man. I feel this is because of Dean's influence.

So, there you have it. Aren't you glad you asked? Hee!

You know, it's exactly this reason that I would rather see Sam as the single father.

We already know that Dean, for all of his faults, can understand and handle children. Hell, he practically raised Sammy on his own. There's really no question, in my mind, that Dean could adjust to being a father.

Sam on the other hand...I don't have any idea how he would handle it because, despite attending Stanford for three-and-a-half years, he relies a lot on Dean. It would be a lot more challenging for Sam to be a father because he doesn't have any experience with it, which is why I would love to see him thrust into that kind of position.

Granted, Dean would be more likely to be a father, given all of his one-night stands. ;) But besides that...

I haven't seen the movie, though, so...just my thoughts on it.

Ooops! I also failed to consider the movie in my reply. For all I know of the it, these may be the very reasons he is not suited for this part.

Well, you are highly productive. Not writing for a bit is your brains' way of saying, "I just wanna sit and have a pina colada. Oh! Cake!"

Perhaps the dry spell is a chance for your brain to absorb something new. Or perhaps you are just too bored since school is out. Or maybe you have writer's block as a sympathy pain for the writers strike. Let the world turn a few times and just don't worry about it. In time the well will runneth over again.
