X-Men: The Last Stand aftermath fic. I'm pretty sure I started this just after the movie came out. I think it was going to end up Warren/John(Pyro). And this is all there is of it. *sadface*
Warren walked through the wreckage of Alcatraz, looking for any survivors. He glanced around, wings held tight against him, horror and fear mingling. Such power—
The ‘X-Men’, as they called themselves, helped soldiers and volunteers comb through the rubble, calling out and yelling for help if someone answered.
So much destruction, all from that one woman. Warren couldn’t believe one being could have so much power—But I have wings, he thought with a bitter chuckle. Who am I to talk?
With a sigh he glanced up towards the stars and the wind ruffled his feathers. He felt the desire curl through him to just leap, take to the air, and leave. Ever since the wings had started growing, the sky sang to him; he felt complete only wheeling about above the world.
They weren’t a curse like his father had always thought, Warren knew—they were a gift. Didn’t everyone long to fly?
A cough cut through his musings and he whirled around, wings flaring out to steady him. He followed muttered cursing and more coughing to a young man about his age, if not younger, covered in soot and ash.
"Gilmore Girls" threesome fic! Or, you know, would be if I ever added anything to it.
"Supernatural" pre-series outside pov. I had a point to this one, I'm sure of it.
It all started fairly innocently. Isn’t that always how it starts?
Rory was too busy for them, had important things to do—her future was bright and glorious.
They understood. They wanted the best for her.
Movie nights with Rory, Dean, and Lorelai became movie nights with Lane, Dean, and Lorelai.
Rory had school and all it entailed—extra-credit, extracurricular, everything the shining beacon of the Gilmore’s had to do.
So Lane and Dean talked and hung out, discussed movies and music and cars. Lane taught Dean to play the drums and Dean showed Lane how to fix an engine. They discovered that they actually liked each other for each other, not because Rory liked them both.
Dean came by the house for Lorelai as much as for Rory. They talked and they laughed and once they cried. Dean gently hugged her and told her everything would be alright.
When Dean broke up with Rory that second time, he almost hoped Lane and Lorelai would hate him. Wouldn’t want him around anymore.
But Lane smiled up at him when they passed in the hall and said, “Six, your place, right?
Dean smiled back and nodded. “Sounds good,” he replied.
And Lorelai visited him at the market, smiled nervously and said, “Just because you and Rory have broken up doesn’t mean we have.”
Relief flooded through him and he ducked his head.

The kid’s skittish but not frightened, roaming the shelves with an intentness she hasn’t seen since Robert got custody of Teddy and moved to Idaho. He’s looking for something particular and slowly getting more and more frustrated that he can’t find it. She looks around; no other patrons need help right now, so she leaves her desk and approaches him. He’s all the way in the far corner, the mythology section, grumbling under his breath.
He reminds her so much of Teddy.
“Can I help you find something?” she asks.
He whirls around, taking a step back, and she hadn’t noticed that faint bruise across his cheek before. He stares at her, then nods. “Where’s the Japanese legends?” He waves his left hand in some gesture she doesn’t understand. “It’s for a school project.”
“I’ll show you,” she says.
He’s back two afternoons later, a smaller boy with him. He goes straight to the children’s section, the littler one bouncing beside him. She studies him as he passes her: about ten, maybe twelve, shaggy blond hair and those vibrant greenish eyes. The bruise has faded, thankfully. His companion(brother, she bets) has the same haircut with darker hair and greener eyes.
Midterms are coming up, so the library’s full with students cramming and she loses track of the boys. By closing, all she knows is that they’re gone.

Date: 2008-05-04 05:26 am (UTC)OMG! Awesome premise and great beginning! I love Dean and Lane teaching eachother about their passions. I might even love it extra much because Rory would never ask them to share those things with her. And Dean crying with Lorelai is a whole fic in itself!
Thanks so much for posting it!
I hope at some point the muse for this one hits you again.

Date: 2008-05-04 10:00 pm (UTC)I don't have a Dean/Lane muse (yet?) but I've always liked the exchange between them in the school yard in The Bracebridge Dinner, and the calling and hanging up scene in They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?.
Scenes where they're basically talking about Rory, like the science partners with Lane or Dean washing Rory's car with Lorelai, don't do it for me so much.

*sigh*
Damn those puppies and their sharp, sharp teeth...
