In my fic "it exhausts me to watch you,"  the character of Caliph(Cally) was based on my cat, Isabel.  I found out yesterday(5-4-08) that she had died.  So... I started a sequel to the aforementioned fic a few weeks ago.  I don't see myself ever coming back to that 'verse, but below is what I have of it. It would have been an AU for the "Supernatural" pilot. 

They discovered by accident that their connection lasted for up to twenty miles.  Then it’d start flickering in and out, static on the radio, and pain would shoot through both of them.

So, yeah, they never separated. While Dean’s talking to Sam, trying to convince him for just this one thing, she prowls outside the building, on watch. She’s big now, larger than any wolf, and something’s prickling her senses.

Danger, she tells him. Anger. We shouldn’t stay much longer.

I feel it too, he replies. Sammy’s bein’ stubborn, though, isn’t listenin’ to a word I say.

Something is coming closer. Dean, she hisses, get him and get out, now. Her tail lashes, ruff rising; she feels the venom coursing in her, ready to attack, defend. This is her territory because it’s Sam’s territory, and she’ll defend Pack with her life.

I've lost a few cats myself and it's always very difficult.

She's the third. The first had to be put down years ago, so long I can barely remember. The second vanished last year. And now Isabel got run over... I think we're cursed.
