Russian is the devil, dude. For serious. I'm with Astrothsknot, though. More people speak Spanish, and it will be a lot more useful in future endeavors.
On the other hand, Spanish is fairly easy and you can always try to Rosetta Stone it later. Russian, however, requires formal instruction, at least until you get the alphabet, certain spelling and pronunciation rules, and the case system down.
Well, one, it's easier to advance forward in one language than starting a new one. Especially in one that isn't as easy as previous. Not that I have experience in BS'ing Spanish tests I didn't study for.
And, seriously, undue strain. I'd rather keep up with one language than start a whole new one unless I'd have lots and lots of time. And patience.
On a totally OT note, an icon to match that icon in cuteness. (http://www.journalfen.net/userpic/154254/18760)
Re: Dean Winchester vs. John Sheppard - it totally depends on the circumstances!
First of all, the fight would take freaking FOREVER. We know BOTH of them have massive amounts of awesome fighting skills and tracking/evading skills (and a tendency to quip and snark in such situations, which always draws it out more) and also never, never NEVER give up no matter how hopeless or how "obvious" it is that, yes, they have indeed lost.
In fact, I'm pretty sure something would have to happen to interrupt them because otherwise that fight would just keep dragging on and on and on, in some form or another, even when it was no longer recognizable to anyone else AS a fight.
Okay, but then pitting their skills against one another - I think Dean is more advanced in fighting ability, but John has a definite psychological advantage in a faceoff between them.
After all, Dean has been taking on monsters with inhuman strength and abilities since he was a little tot. And winning. (Yes, I know John fights those now, too - but he only has a couple years experience and virtually no knowledge outside of that time period.) However, John is the only one that is a trained killer of men.
I don't think Dean would have any problem taking John down, but I do think he would be reticent to take any permanent/lethal action outside of very limited circumstances. On the other hand, John has repeatedly demonstrated he's more than willing to take human life when he feels it's necessary - and he has a much broader definition of that then Dean.
(Now, should this battle take place during Sheppard's half-Iratus bug phase? No question. Dean Winchester all the way.)
(Speaking about definition of necessary to take human life - here's an interesting thought - John Sheppard and Sam Winchester - close quarters hand-to-hand/bladed combat. [I think Sheppard could totally take him in a ranged fight or maneuvers] Particularly a late-S3 / post-Dean (Mystery Spot or season finale) Sam.)
(Now if they ran into each other during John's half-Iratus Bug phase? All bets are off.)
