So, uh, does anyone know how to get rid of a Trojan computer virus?  Because my laptop has one.

Everything I HAVE EVER WRITTEN is on my laptop, most of which has no copies anywhere else.  It still turns on, but I can't go anywhere except the desktop.

Anyone have a clue?

My husband tells me that in most cases if you can get a cd or dvd to boot from that contains anti-virus software, you should be able to remove the virus. Is this a mac or pc? We happen to both work at a computer repair shop, but we only repair Apple computers.

This exact same thing happened to me just last night.

What I did was run my virus protection program and it had to reboot the entire computer and delete the corrupted files. It seems ok now, but even if it's only short lived it gave me enough time to back everything up.

I've got Avast which you can download for free.

Good luck!

This is what I do when I get a virus. Go to Google. If you are getting a message of any kind, put in in, in quotation marks. If you have a Mac, add Mac after the message in quotations. You will probably see lots of instances of it on computer geek forums, or Microsoft forums, or Mac forums. They wil tell you how to get rid of it, often times without losing your files. Especially if it is an older virus. If you aren't getting a message, then in Google, describe what your computer is or is not doing, and you should be able to get results with that as well.

Good Luck!

Poor Baby,
Have you tried rebooting while holding it in the shower?

It's a type of virus protection/virus destroyer. It's called spybot search and destroy. I think he downloaded it online.
