            Once he leaves, Dean only returns to Stars Hollow every few years, usually at the holidays. He’ll stay a couple weeks at his parents’ house, hang out with Clara and her boyfriend/fiancé/husband and then go back to his life.

            In Stars Hollow, to everyone but his family, he’s still that Forrester boy, you remember, that boy who broke Rory’s heart three times, poor girl. Never mind that Rory’s happily married to some journalist and out traveling the world like she always wanted—some people still give him dirty looks. 

            No, he doesn’t really like going back to Stars Hollow, but his parents and sister and baby nephew still live there, and he does miss them. But his home is out in California now, or sometimes in New Mexico, and even Florida for one memorable winter. And he’s happy.  He once thought his life would end in Stars Hollow, always and forever the bastard who broke Rory Gilmore’s heart.

            But now he knows better. Now he knows his life only started there, and breaking up with Rory was the best thing he’s ever done.

Oh, I love this, thank you!!!

I can just see him, heading back to the Hollow every year. Spending pretty much the entire time hanging out at his parent's house or Clara's. And counting the days til he can leave again.

But this is the BEST!
And he’s happy. He once thought his life would end in Stars Hollow, always and forever the bastard who broke Rory Gilmore’s heart.

But now he knows better. Now he knows his life only started there, and breaking up with Rory was the best thing he’s ever done.
