I think that is an inspired idea. Sabertooth can take Ben under his wing (he is looking for a younger brother replacement, after all).

I never saw Ben and don't care about him...but ALEC. Smart-mouthed, vulnerable, cocky, young, capable but still inexperienced in so many ways...smart,strong and fast, not a mutant but not human, either...and SABRETOOTH...! Ooooh, yeah, I'd love to see that! :D
