Prompt: Dean sends Sam on a temporary! journey to hell to teach him some humility.
Warnings: spoilers for 4.20

 

 

"It's for your own good, Sammy," Dean whispers, holding Sam's jaws open and pouring in the vile-smelling liquid.  Sam gasps, gurgles, chokes, but some goes down. Enough. "I promise."

 

The smell brings back memories of Hell--death and blood and charred flesh, brimstone and sulfur.  He lowers the bone-chalice and clings to Sam's hand.

 

It'll be over soon.  It's for Sam's own good. He has to see what's down the line for him if he keeps following this path.

 

He'll stop.  Dean's invoking Hell in Sam's mind, and he'll be Sammy again when he wakes up.

I was aiming for heartbreaking, because he thinks he's doing the right thing and it's actually completely wrong. But your reaction works, too.
