You know what your sons are, Alistair purred, slicing John’s torso. What they’ll do to the world.
John kept quiet. Alistair said the same thing every day. Honestly, John was a little disappointed in the Grand Inquisitor, Hell’s chief tormentor.
But today, if day it was, Alistair paused, head cocking. Then, cackling, he turned back to John and leaned in close. Your boy Dean, he whispered, lips right by John’s ear. Sweetheart, he just made a deal. A year and then he’s ours.
John spoke for the first time in Hell. What? Why would he—Azazel.
Yes, Alistair said. One of Azazel’s little experiments killed your Sammy. He set a toe in our border and then got whisked back out.
John closed his eyes, head dropping.
Oh, don’t worry, Johnny, Alistair cooed. We’ll take special care of your Dean. If you say yes, if you take my razor, you can be the one.
Growling, John straightened. I know my sons, he said. And I know the plans in place for them. He strained, ignoring the pain as insignificant.
What are you doing? Alistair asked, shocked for the first time John could recall.
John fell off the rack and rose to his feet. You should know, Alistair, John said, that my boys never follow the rules.
Every being in Hell felt the door open and all those capable rushed to it, John among them.
He couldn’t stop Alistair from getting his hands on Dean, but he could take some satisfaction from Azazel before finally seeing Mary again.

God is dead, Raphael proclaims to the traitor and Michael’s vessel, and he remembers how God’s presence felt, that holy light filling him from the inside out, God’s love and God’s grace and God’s trust.
Raphael has not felt God in centuries. So, the only explanation is that God has abandoned them, has turned His back and walked away, leaving them alone and leaderless and so very lost.
God is dead. Better to destroy His creation and return to the nothingness from which they were woven than exist without Him anymore.
God is dead. Let the darkness have them all.

Promise you won’t forget me
Promise I am yours and you are mine
Promise you won’t forget me
Even when I’m a hundred and you’re ninety-nine
Promise you won’t forget me
Never ever and a day
You’re my very best friend
My favorite person ever
You’re my very best friend
Promise you won’t forget me
Promise to not forget me
Even when I’m gone away
Even when I’m gone for good
Even when I am grown
And have put away my childish things
Promise you won’t forget me
And that our heaven is full of trees
Promise me that you’re waiting
At our Hundred-Acre Wood
