Hmmm. I hardly notice Jensen or Jared's accent. Some variations of southern accent I've heard on TV were very obnoxious, but then they were supposed to be for comic effect. Haven't heard one I considered "cool" but I haven't heard one off TV.
A lot of people I've met (including - surprisingly - Misha, Jim, Gabe, Richard, Todd, and Charles) and a quite a lot of fellow fangirls said they found my accent interesting/mellow/soothing/awesome. Course it's also been referred to as 'cute.' And I've had several tell me they'd love to hear me read something, anything (and yes, even the phonebook).
*hee* I don't ever get comments on my accent, mainly, I guess, because I don't really travel that much or talk to people I don't really know. Mom has said, though, that people often tell her she can't be from the south because she has no accent. She hasn't consciously lost it or anything; she just never really had one.
I found it surprising that Jim, Misha, etc were so enamored of it really.
Huh, there are a couple people in my family that don't have a noticeable accent - one of my uncles especially. I have an aunt who kind of has a transitional one - she lives in Maine (and has for @ least 15 years. Yet she still has a 'southern' accent to them. Yet when she comes home, she has a 'northern' one.
One of my moms has an accent similar to mine, yet not exactly the same as you can tell the difference, especially with certain words. The other has less. My dads go the same way.
You'd hate my accent, really--about a quarter New Joisey, a quarter Southern drawl, an eighth Midwest, and the rest is I can't enunciate for the life of me. Or, apparently, speak audibly without thinking I'm shouting.
I'm a Canadian in BC. I don't know if I have an accent beyond 'Coastal mushmouth', but there's bits in the olympic torch vid I posted where I'm talking in the background if you want to hear it. I love accents, particularly southern US, Texas, all of the UK and Ireland, Australia/NZ, others too, depending. I sometimes get in trouble though, because I subconciously accent-mimic and some people think I'm mocking them. :-/
Also Canadian from BC here, and I do love accents. Especially Irish, Scottish, Australian, middle eastern--ok fine I love them all..lol I didn't consider I had an accent until a few years ago my Scottish vocal teacher pointed out that we all do;)
I never really notice mine or my family's, but some people at school sound really southern. My Spanish tutor has a fun little German/Spanish accent going on.
Midwestern, from Chicago here. I think a slight southern drawl is incredibly attractive and sometimes a bit seductive (Bones!), but a really thick accent is a bit annoying. Apparently I can pick up on accents really well without even knowing I'm doing it, because someone once asked me if I was British.
Well, that's the thing. I have no idea. We were just talking about random stuff like TV shows and suddenly she turns to me and asks where I'm from. Maybe it was because we were talking about Doctor Who and it got into my subconscious?
My sister, on the other hand knows exactly what she's doing. She can do a Scottish, Australian, Canadian, or (probably offensive and wrong) Southern accent.
