Prompt: Castiel, "Endless Night" (from the Lion King the Musical).
He watches the stars now, whenever he rests, from valleys and mountain tops, at the sea shore and the middle of a desert night.
He can name them all, using their true Creator-given title. He can close his eyes and remember their births, when God wove them from Himself and spread them amongst the cosmos.
Father, he calls into the night, straining with everything he has to hear an answer. Father!
Sometimes he stays out all night, and he lets the dawn warm him. Sometimes he leaves and goes to the Winchesters, stands guard to let them sleep. Sometimes, he quiets their sleep and wishes that someone would quiet his mind.

Prompt: Twilight/any fandom with vampires, any characters, "sparkle, sparkle"
"You bloody wankers give our whole species a bad name," the intruder hissed, face ugly and wrinkled, his canine teeth protruding from his mouth. "The whole lot of you, prancin' around in daylight, all 'sparkle sparkle this' and 'sparkle sparkle that', like you're bloody tamed or somethin'. It makes me sick."
Edward cocked his head to the side and listened. "You don't have a heartbeat," he noted.
The intruder blinked. "That's what you pick up on?" he demands after a moment. "You're a moron. I should kill you just—for slander! That's it." He grinned and nodded.
Edward backed up a step. "Wait," he said. "Surely we can discuss this?"
The fangs and wrinkles melted back into the intruder's face and he shook his head. "Nope. Gonna have to show you what a proper vampire is like, boyo."
Edward spun around and ran.
He didn't run fast enough.

Prompt: Bobby, Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes
She wasn't his first experience with the supernatural, just the worst. He'd seen the truth before her, but until then, he didn't acknowledge it. He didn't believe it.
He couldn't have saved her then. He can admit that now, with all the years between. He couldn't have saved her as that foolish, blind, arrogant boy.
That doesn't make living with it any easier.

Prompt: Alec/Eliot, don't ask
Eliot's body is covered in scars. Alec likes to take his time, whenever they (far too infrequently) have a chance, likes to lick and kiss his way along each, trying to erase whatever horror caused them with a better memory.
Eliot tells him where they came from, if he asks. Quietly, calmly, without emotion, he details exactly what he suffered. What he survived.
Alec has far fewer scars. Eliot's asked, looking to see if he needed to hunt someone down. Alec assured him that there was no point.
There's one, though, that made Alec flinch when Eliot's finger traced it. Eliot moved on, with barely a glance to show he'd noticed and filed away Alec's reaction.
Eliot never asks.
A month later, Alec finds an obituary taped on his laptop.
Alec never thanks him.

Prompt: Dean/Castiel, Cas feels a world apart whilst Dean's asleep.
Angels do not need sleep. Even now, when he knows that his grace is almost completely gone, he is not physically tired.
Emotionally, yes--his soul (that tiny light left of Heaven) is exhausted. Every day seems longer than the one before, especially now that he finally grasps just how frail humans are.
(Jo. Ellen. He asks their forgiveness and does not feel anything but what Sam defines as grief.)
But Dean sleeps. Sam sleeps. While they rest, Castiel searches the cosmos and the ground, seeking any hint of Father, but Father refuses to be found.
He watches their dreams sometimes, especially Dean's. Castiel knows that humans need sleep to recharge, to be able to function at peak condition, but Dean's dreams do not seem conducive to functionality. In his dreams, he is back in Hell or at Cold Oak. In his dreams, he is either the tormented or tormentor, or the survivor clutching close his brother's corpse.
Castiel has lost the ability to sweeten Dean's dreams; all he can do now is watch, and that seems so remote. So useless. He was never the most able soldier, but as a scholar, he excelled, designed—so he had always believed—by Father's hands. And now he is nothing but an observer, unable to help Dean sleep or exorcise a demon.
All he can do now is fly, search. Hope.
All he can do is pray.

"How far are you into 'Leverage'?"
Date: 2010-04-18 07:36 pm (UTC)If I didn't have six time-critical things to do before the post office closes tomorrow, I'd be over on AO3 now searching "Leverage"/"White Collar" crossovers... and I've already got a plot-bunny for one hopping around in my head. I don't have TIME for another fan-obsession!
Already thinking that if the "Leverage" DVDs are at CostCo next time I'm there, I'll probably pick 'em up and not wait for Netflix to dole 'em out to me one at a time... Also thinking longingly of a higher-speed 'Net connection so I can use the "Watch Instantly" Netflix option...

Date: 2010-04-18 10:00 pm (UTC)Re: "How far are you into 'Leverage'?"
Date: 2010-04-19 04:51 am (UTC)It's not the first fandom where I've been hooked by fanfic before seeing much of the show... I read a bunch of "Sentinel" fanfic which gave a very "slash-tinted-glasses" view of the series before ever seeing the first-season episodes (the series was in re-runs on SciFi at that point). I don't think I'd have liked the show NEARLY as much if I'd watched the episodes without having the fan-flavored versions in mind...
