Prompt: Dogma, Loki + Bartleby, they did walk through that door

At first, there's silence. Deeper than eternity and wider than creation, the silence cascades out from between Bartleby and Loki to the world. It echoes and reverberates, shaking everything from the center to the edge. Loki gasps and clutches at Bartleby, but then the silence shrieks and rips apart.

After the silence, as creation explodes and shatters and breaks into pieces even the Creator couldn't put back together again, Bartleby whispers, "Loki, forgive—"

Loki does not hear him. There is nothing.

The Creator weeps, but everything is ended—even Her.

Prompt: Supernatural; Castiel; he doesn't know yet - and he won't mean to do it - but he's going to be the one to destroy it all.

He was given the order, and he is a good soldier, with faith and trust and love, such utter and complete love, devotion to the Father and to Heaven and to all the choirs and all the garrisons, and he follows all orders, and he is the best, most loyal soldier, the littlest angel who could.

He gripped a soul tight and raised it from Perdition. The First Seal had already been broken.

But the last, the final Seal... could not be broken until Sam Winchester—so strong, so determined, so righteous in his belief—had reached a certain point. And that certain point couldn't happen until he looked at Alistair, at his brother broken by Alistair...

Castiel, so brave and so mighty, gripped a soul tight and raised it from Perdition, damning all of Creation. He will never know.

(Dean will.)

.

K–T extinction event

He wasn't quite human yet, and going by what he's learned in recent decades, it wasn't the first time, but his earliest memory is the death of the dinosaurs. There was a comet, and a volcano, and so much devastation...

He went to sleep, he remembers that, as a tiny little thing. He slept for a long time, and when he woke, the world was changed. He was changed.

Atlantis

He still wasn't human. He was something large and aquatic, and the world calls him a sea-serpent now. Leviathan. He was swimming nearby when a cataclysm shook the world and Atlantis sank into the sea. He followed it down, watched all the little things trying to surface. He ate a few. Studied a few more.

The great light in the sky vanished three times before he walked out of the water, finally a man.

the flood

His name was Aaron and he was a man. He watched the storm clouds gather, felt the rain pound down, and went out into a desert that was quickly drowning.

It had been a long time since he wasn't a man, but men couldn't survive the deluge, so he stopped being one.

He survived, of course. And when the water receded, he walked on two legs again.

.

(Dawson and MacLeod ask him what the early years were like. Five millennia. Older than the written word, than civilization, than human memory.

So much older than human memory. Because he isn't an immortal. He doesn't know what he is. And all the times Methos vanishes from the Chronicles… he truly vanishes, and becomes something else.

It's been a long time since the world herself tried to kill the little things living on her. He wonders what, besides him, will come out the other side the next time she does.)

He's dreaming about the basement again. About Pop, and the boys, and the blood, and being pressed into the mattress, about never saying no.

(He did say no, he thinks. Maybe. When he was Neil, but Cameron... Cameron was a good boy. Cameron was a survivor. Cameron never said no.)

Cameron's dreams, here in Neil's room. Sharing with Stevie, safe in Mom and Dad's house. Pop isn't here. Cougar isn't here. Just Neil, and Stevie, and Mom and Dad, and Diana.

But in the dream, he's Cameron. The second Cameron, the better Cameron, the Cameron who survived. Pop's in the dream, and he's angry, and he's hitting Cameron, spitting filth, yelling things Neil knows are lies, but he's not Neil in the dream. He's just Cameron. Pop's son.

He is Pop's. And Cameron is a good son, who never says no.

Neil wakes screaming no.

Title: You came into my heart today and didn't know it
Fandom: Supernatural

Pairings: pre-Gabriel/Sam, one-sided Lucifer/Sam, very much pre-Dean/Castiel, past-Lucifer/Michael
Rating: PGish
Wordcount: 520
Point of view: third
Prompt: Supernatural, Sam/Gabriel, any. Vampire!AU; Sam wonders how the hell Gabriel can be a Master Vampire.

He didn't see it, at first, not at all. Gabriel said, call me Gabe, and while he wasn't scrawny, he was short. Conveniently pocket-sized, Dean chortled, and then, Don't forget, Sammy, even the Jolly Green Giant is a midget next to you.

Dean ducked Sam's retaliatory smack and left the room, laughing. Sam just continued to sit there, pondering the Master Vampire who was busying courting him with chocolate and certain annoyances removed. (Not that anyone could prove Gabriel was responsible, but Sam knew.)

Gabriel wasn't like Lucifer, or Uriel. Even Raphael, with his hospital for the poor, was… well, scary. But Gabriel?

Lucifer tried courting Sam, once. He was considered the Master Vampire, the one the rest bowed to, when push came to shove. The deciding factor in all warfare, the final voice in all choices as a race. His previous mate, Michael, had left in a huff, starting his own empire in California. Loyalties had been divided for awhile, but luckily the vampires kept it all in-house. Humans had only known because a lesser thrall of Michael's, Anachel, had gotten drunk with a reporter. (Both of them were dealt with, of course. But not before the damage had been done.)

Anyway, Lucifer tried, but Sam said no. Very determinedly, Sam had said no. And when Lucifer didn't seem inclined to listen… well.

Sam is a researcher in vampire biology and culture. He's respectable and generally well-liked. But Dean? Dean's a Hunter, the kind who takes offense when vampires don't respect boundaries. The kind that police don't sanction and the government turns a blind eye to. The kind that vampires have tried to wipe out before, and Dean took out half a dozen of Lucifer's highest-ranked minions before Lucifer got the message. He'd have taken out Lucifer, if it wouldn't have created a terrible power vacuum, and if Lucifer hadn't backed off his baby brother. (Sam knows Dean still thinks about him like that, sometimes. It's annoying, but kind of sweet.)

So, Lucifer backed off and Sam had really thought that might be the end of it. But now Gabriel was courting him, and Sam really couldn't see it. Gabriel smiled too much to be a Master.

Sam didn't say no. He let himself be charmed by Gabriel. And then, something happened one night. Dean's contacts said that one of Gabriel's favorite brothers, younger than him, one he'd helped teach, years and years ago, was hurt in some bullshit battle between Azazel (Lucifer's Blade) and Zachariah (Michael's Voice).

Castiel, Dean said. Gabriel's kid brother. He's pretty, for a fang.

Gabriel secreted Castiel away somewhere, pulled Sam down for a quick kiss, and went to visit his oldest brother, the Master Vampire Lucifer.

In that moment, seeing the rage in Gabriel's eyes—for the first time, Sam also saw the power. There was nothing bumbling or cute in Gabriel at all. It was Dean, storming into Lucifer's headquarters, killing everything that got in his way.

You'd better come back,he called after Gabriel.

Gabriel smirked over his shoulder, blowing a kiss.

If Gabriel came back, Sam thought he might even say yes.

2. this is heartbreaking. that all this devotion and love would be used like that, that something good (rescuing Dean from hell) would be to further some an evil plot (breaking Sam enough to break the final seal). i have never thought of it like that and now it makes me choke; and i'm so sorry Dean knows and a little relieved Castiel doesn't.
3. gaaaah! this is awesome! :D and yesyesyesyes! methos more than an immortal!
5. ooooh, this world is shiny! me likes! i wish i'd see more of this some day! :D

Love the first one. It reminds me of one of my favourite books, Changer by Jane Lindskold. The Changer started life at the dawn of time as a sea creature too and became different things as time went by.

The Castiel piece is heartbreaking - his storyline has become so tragic in canon and those last lines would be powerful anyway but in the context of the season 6 finale they're even more so!

He will never know.

(Dean will.)

The Counterfeit Son bit is so sad and so clever! I love that you've written so much for that book.
