I just finished a book about the supervolcano under Yellowstone.  There's a chapter all about the worst eruptions in recorded history (dude, Krakatau was frickin' insane), and you know what I've learned?  Now I'm even more glad the only thing I really have to worry about in the near vicinity are hurricanes.  No surprises, no shock - everyone knows the storm is out there weeks in advance.  And they leave.

And, yeah, if Yellowstone erupts, I'll be dead of starvation or asphyxiation, but they're pretty sure it won't happen till long after my time, so.

Man, my science credit at uni was natural disasters, and I learned about Yellowstone so I ended up obsessed with it. I now visit the USGS volcano hazards website frequently :P

If you want more info, one of the volcanologists has a Q & A video about it (Yellowstone) although it doesn't add any necessarily new info, it's interesting to hear the guy discuss it..

Then again, it's just really interesting in general...
