life update

1. I'm going to the beach on Saturday. I plan to type up stories, finish the monster Glee flashback story (I broke 11,000 words on it a couple days ago), read actual books, and make worksheets for the woman I tutor in ESL. I think I've decided I won't visit the internet at all, to read or post. Only for research as needed and to check my email.
2. If you leave me a prompt (a word, an idea, an image) I'll try and write something original for it. No fanfic in response. Possibly a poem. I miss poetry.
3. Captain America: The First Avenger is lovely. Steve Rogers is adorable. Chris Evans is awesome.
4. So, somehow all my best ideas start out as fanfic. I wrote a Glee fic in my head that involved dragons hiding in human form and it's morphed into something I actually want to put on paper and do something with. I went beyond notes to an actual story today, with a history I'm really excited to work on. I see two ways it can go, though.
Should the dragons be thought extinct by humanity, or should there a council in place, with both dragons and humans, monitoring relations? Either way, the characters won't really change. I'll just have to come up with more of them.
5. I think the monster Glee flashback story is almost done. It's already the longest oneshot I've ever written. I'm not sure how many of y'all would be interested in it, but I've really enjoyed writing it. I don't know if I'll make a separate post for the songs, but they're certainly an important part.
6. Apparently, I missed some very cool things in Supernatural, if the
comment_fic prompts are anything to go by. I'm more curious to watch season 6 now.
7. I culled some of my icons and added some new ones. Like this one. I also added a note to all the ones that are pictures I took. Like this one. *hee* My aunt and uncle run a kitty boot-camp, letting people play with the kittens they foster as they browse the shop (my aunt and uncle own and run it). The kittens grow up familiar with humans and eager for human attention. They have four right now, adorable beyond belief.

nor iron bars a cage;
minds innocent and quiet take
that for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love
and in my soul am free,
then angels alone, that sour above,
know such liberty.
Enjoy the beach.

Date: 2011-08-04 04:18 pm (UTC)I've got a stalled novel involving dragons (not in human form, though, and a much less serious story overall) from years ago, one of these days I should poke at it again.

Date: 2011-08-04 09:54 pm (UTC)As to #4: the dragons were eradicated by humans. The only ones left are shapeshifters and a few living at the bottom of the ocean. It's kinda like the Tasmanian Tiger situation, where in recent years, people have started regretting killing all the dragons. So while some people would probably try to imprison and study them, most would be happy to realize not all dragons were gone.
