Watching The Finder episode involving hurricanes, as someone born and raised in hurricane country - it's clear the writers have never actually experienced one, or lived in an area where they're common.

Same here. I find that most hurricane movie/show creators/writers don't really know what the hell they are talking about. It's one thing to write about it...it's another thing, entirely, to experience it.

I can guarantee you that there wouldn't be school during a hurricane, let alone a category 4. Everything pretty much shuts down for a 1. Buildings are so easily destroyed a category 1...how do they expect so many to remain untouched with a 4? (We won't even touch on the lack of power and downed lines that are all over the place during/after a hurricane.) And the flooding that comes along with it? That's even worse!

TV/movie hurricanes rarely mimic the real thing. Basically, they are in a thunderstorm on the TV, not a hurricane.
