*shivers*

For the record, I am so tired of winter. It's weird that we're even having a winter. On Sunday, it stayed around 60F all day and it was so lovely. I actually couldn't wear a jacket because I started sweating! Then the cold moved back in and I am tired of it. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to go to class; I could just curl up in my living room or something. But no. I have to go to class because I'm responsible.

I actually cut my second ever grad school class last Thursday because of the weather: I didn't feel safe walking without an actualfax winter coat, which I didn't have with me. (The first ever grad school class I cut was because I got word that my great-aunt (more like a grandma) had died.)

So, yeah. Winter. I guess I'm finally learning what that actually is. It sucks. For the record.

Layers, young and gifted Padawan. Layers of clothing. Haven't used a coat in years. Trapped air makes extra insulation, double hoodies (inbox me if you want more tips on The Layered Lifestyle).

Fine attendance is something to feel good about and part of a work ethic you'll be so glad you have later at a point when it keeps you going.

I so do not miss living in snow and ice any longer. It will be near 80 here today and may reach 90 this weekend. Near perfect attendance is good, but not as important as avoiding hypothermia or a broken bone if you are not properly attired for the season. I used to wear golf shoes back when I was DC and there were ice storms. I learned this trick after a bad fall the ended up requiring knee surgery to repair.

Be brave and safe.

I've heard from another LJer Karadin that e had a velvet cloak made for a Lord of the Rings thing, and now Karadin has actually been wearing it due to the weather.

I even saw someone in what looked like a floor length brown short plush cloak with sleeves and a hood.

I've actually worn my flannel lined winter bonnet a few times. Something like the one in the photograph on the Christian Coverings website but with the smaller brim.

And my big black leather coat. Now if only I had someway to keep a scarf pinned up in front of my mouth. All that cold air makes me cough.

Yeah, it's cold. I was looking at the weather maps, and the east coast has it worse than the great plains. Hang in there. It's almost over.

You can only take off so many clothes before people start to protest. Lol

I'm in the Buffalo area, where winter lasts through the first half of spring, and we're sick and tired of it. It just seems worse this year. It's so inhibiting; it makes you not want to even think about going anywhere, or even emailing or calling people or registering for things.

Sometimes when I was in class at university, I looked out of the window and saw nothing but whiteness.
