I tried reading the first one a while ago but couldn't get into it; I'm gonna try again after I finish Aly's books.

I found it hard to get into the 1st person pov, but once I got the voice in my head it was easier - and it helped seeing Faithful again, as snarky as ever, although Beka *knew* he was a constellation, unlike Alanna.

I was wondering, would a fic with Alanna finding out that Faithful is an immortal constellation be ok or would that be too painful for you? I was going to do it for one of your comment_fic prompts, but I don't have to, if it would be too upsetting.

I interacted with my little sister's cat last night, my first interaction with a cat since Jan 13. I wasn't quite ready. But reading about them seems to be fine.

So, I tried reading the first Beka Cooper book today and I still couldn't get into it. I just can't buy the diary format if conversations are relayed verbatim. :(

It's not for everyone. I did find it jarring and it's normally a style I run away from, but I do enjoy Beka's story. I'm so excited about the Numair backstory series that she's working on for her next Tortall release, though :D
