my personal favorites of my stories

So, lovely
smilla02tagged me. Which are my personal five favorites of the fics I've written? Hmm... there'll be more than five on this list.
So, there you have it. The ones I love the most.
As to how I write... *ducks head* I just do. I almost never have any story planned out(the failed "Refractured" being the exception) and I don't often linger over it once it's done. I just sit down at the table or the desk, and write or type. Usually, I start at the beginning, but sometimes the middle or end graces me with its presence, and I go from there, weaving the rest of the story around that bit. That's how "In The Genes" was. I write until the tale is done, and then decide if I'm happy with it or not. I usually am, at first, and then sometimes later on I decide I don't like it anymore, so I take it down.

"Fireplace." (PG, 940 words) Short retelling of "Cinderella." All about appearances and wishes, how you should be careful. I love it.
"Broken." (PG, 630) A "Charmed" fic. Before Dean and Sam, Chris was pretty much my favorite. This is just a tiny little glimpse into how it must have felt for him, stuck in the past with people he knows who aren't who he remembers them as. (If that sentence makes sense.) I'm proud of how it turned out.
"From Serpent's Tongue." (R, 2920 words) It's a Devour fic, weaving together Marisol and Kathy, and who/what Jake really is. I just had a great time writing it.
"say goodbye to yesterday." (PG, 680 words) Now this... this "Supernatural" fic is just... there are so many phrases in this little storylet that I love. It's just a smidge of time, and yet it's the boys, and it's them. I wrote it a little before midnight, in about ten minutes, and I adore it.
"Morality." (R, 740 words) Another "Supernatural" ficlet. An AU, I'd reckon. For me, this one just flows.
"long trip alone, over sand and stone." (Rish, 2942 words) Yes, still "Supernatural." This fic was supposed to be a tiny little Dean character piece. It started out about four hundred words long. And then Dean started talking, and Sam, and Mary joined in and--yeah. I'm proud of this one.
"Brittle." (PG13, 460 words) A "Dark Angel" fic. For all that I love Ben more, Alec's usually my muse in this fandom. And this piece... wrote itself, really. I hate Max, with the fervor of a billion exploding suns, but writing this, I actually kinda got in her head and wondered, how does she view Alec?
"Crystalline." (R, 6120 words) And we're back to "Supernatural" again. This story is the first part of a massive(for me) Devour/SN crossover, wherein I practically rewrote the entire series, filling in the blanks for why Mary, why Dean and Sam, and who the demon really is. I've stalled on the fifth part, but so far the series("Familial Relations") clocks in at about 40000 words.
"This Is The Part."(PG13, 980 words) Harry Potter, Sirius' thoughts at the end of Order of the Phoenix. Sirius, after Draco, is my favorite HP character, and I'm just really pleased with how the fic turned out.
"Decomposition of a Soul." (PG13, 280 words) "Supernatural," again. This piece was an experiment with style, which I do from time to time. It's fragmented, somewhat unclear, and--to me--it reads like a song.
"Raconteur." (PG13, 1060 words) Still "Supernatural." I just love the narrator of this story. And it totally plays into my pet theory for the mythology of SN, though, of course, the show will go an entirely different way.
"Once a Predator." (PG13, 330 words) Anonymous Rex fic. So, there's this movie about dinosaurs living today, hiding in plain sight behind technology. It's a great movie, for all the horrid special effects, because I actually cared for the main characters, which is usually not the case. And then I wrote this, about how some things just can never, ever be escaped.
"Broken." (PG13, 820 words) Towards the end of last year, I went through over a dozen ideas about how the pilot of "Supernatural" could have ended. This is one of two that I really really like.
"Awakening." (PG13, 1410 words) So, uh, House of Wax fic... where I turn Wade into an immoral, ravenous zombie. Really. Because I'm sick that way.
"Whiskey Lullaby." (PG13, 725 words) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Before Chris Perry/Halliwell, Xander Harris was my love. And I dearly adored torturing the poor boy. (Can you imagine? Shocking, I know.) So, this fic is AU and depressing, and I think some of the imagery is awesome.
"Bane." (PG13, 1110 words) And we're back to "Supernatural." I love the flowing, formal language to this one, and the slightly biting sarcasm.
"Today." (PG, 616 words) Another "Supernatural" piece. John and Dean's thoughts during random points in their lives. I like the seamless way all the words fit together.
"And Into The Sky." This is a poem about fairy tales. Out of everything I've ever written, it's tied with another poem as my total favorite.
"Judas." A Biblical poem about the greatest traitor in history.
"The Nature of Evil." (R, 750 words) A Devour fic. Jake is just entirely too much fun to torture, and the movie left so much up to us...
"Sol." (PG13, 2370 words) Sky High. Basically, I got this idea for the awesomest power ever and ran with it, but had to add in angst and sorrow and pain.
"November." (PG13, 690 words) Remember that other "Supernatural" pilot AU I love? This is it.
"From Pond To Sea." (PG, 300 words) Pirates of the Caribbean. Melancholy piece, really, but it just flows together like water...
"Caligula's Blood." (R, 1148) Now, this is a "Charmed" story. And I think it may be my absolute favorite of any of my fics. It's darkly gorgeous, if I say so myself--which I do.
"Mirage." (PG13, 870) Another posted as
lunalupine, this time "Supernatural." Just a short Jessica fic, really. But one I particulary like.
"This is the way the world ends." (R, 1140) One of my very first dark "Suprnatural" stories. To me, at least, there seems to be something, I dunno... majestic about this piece. It's told piece-meal, interwoven with "The Hollow Men" by TS Eliot(kick-ass poem) and is basically the measuring stick for the rest of my wincest stories.
"Beautifully Shattered." (R, 555) I was pretty much high when I wrote this, taking medication because I was horribly sick, along with my migraine pills. It's a Harry Potter fic, completely AU, wherein I turn the dear boy into Lucifer's consort and destroy the world. (Did I mention I was high?)
"How The Good Have Fallen." (R, 1720) "Smallville." My first SV story, actually, and what do I do? I toss Jason, Clark, and Lex into a threesome and have them take over the world.
"Rock Bottom." (PG13, 700 words) A "Dawson's Creek" fic. Yes, for real. I just like the meandering way it moves.
"Used-To-Be's Dont Count Anymore." (G, 223 words) An AU ficlet for "Scarecrow." I like the economy of words.
"Water-colors and stick figures." (PG, 424) Pre-pilot fic for "Supernatural." And I just... like it. I can't even really describe why.
"I'm Sorry." (PG13, 975) Now, this may be the fic that disappointed me the most in regards to feedback. It's an AU "Supernatural" piece, dark and depressing, and for a long time it was, in my estimation, the pinnacle of my writing.
"Seduction." (R, 1990) One of my first wincest stories, still one of my favorites. I like the way Dean's inner dialogue turned out.
"The Legend of Jack." (R, 2500) Red Eye fic, dealing with Jackson Rippner before the movie, what screwed him up so well. Dark. Very dark. And I'm twistedly proud of it.
"Hope is the Thing with Feathers." (R, 1468) "Smallville." Torturing Jason with a horrendous childhood, and then he's taken by Kal-El and kept as a whore. Yeah.
"Shattered Glass." (R, 1530) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Another piece-meal story, weaving together Xander's past and future, and just how truly dark the human soul can be.
"Meant to Be." (R, 2920) My first attempt at epic storytelling. It's a "Charmed" fic that encompasses centuries, and there is no hope by the end. *hee*
"Reflection." (R, 687) "Supernatural" ficlet where Dean's a shell of himself, existing solely for vengeace. I like the flow of it.
"Broken." (PG, 630) A "Charmed" fic. Before Dean and Sam, Chris was pretty much my favorite. This is just a tiny little glimpse into how it must have felt for him, stuck in the past with people he knows who aren't who he remembers them as. (If that sentence makes sense.) As to how I write...
