I was not made to regret.

The day after the traitors fled Manticore, I was pulled into a cell and tortured for six months straight. 

For ten years I did not know why.

 I was not made to hope.

The day I fucked-up my first major mission, I was pulled into a cell and tortured for three days, then they shoved me in the basement and abandoned me for five weeks.

For two years I couldn’t remember why.

I wasn’t made to love. 

-

The day I discovered I could regret, I had her blood on my hands and tears in my eyes.

The day I discovered I could hope, I stepped into a warm sunrise and realized I never had to return to the darkness. 

The day I discovered I could love, I lost the chance forever.

I was not made for happiness. For some reason, that’s the only thing I cannot feel.
