"the holy lost" -- Sam would've left Dean in a torrent of guilt, and Dean would've hunted him down, convinced him it wasn't his fault, and then "All Hell Breaks Loose" would happen.

"those next times which never come" -- hmm. He wouldn't have been able to meet her eyes and she'd be too nervous to actively hit on him. So they'd probably share nervous smiles and barely speak to each other.

I have such a secret thing for Sam dealing with that particular flavor of guilt, not going to lie.

Hmm... if Reaper didn't recede? Well, he was also a medic, back as John Grimm, so he would have seen to Pike's care, then hunted Jim down. So, basically, the same thing, I think. Reaper is the soldier, but the soldier is also a doctor...

Which is my long, drawn-out way of saying I have no idea. Sorry.

I really wish Doom would come in the mail so I can finish the sequel!
