queries, thoughts, and ponderings

1. Are any of you fluent in Spanish?

2. So, say someone is working on a Trek reboot/Doom/Blade Trinity/PotC crossover and the pairings are Reaper/Hannibal King, Jack Sparrow/Hannibal, Will Turner/Hannibal/Elizabeth Turner, and Reaper!Bones/Jim Kirk--would you read it?

3. I added a few sentences to my reel_startrekfic. For some reason, though, I'm just not... interested in it anymore.  Should I just do one complete scene of it for the challenge?

4. I graduate college in May!

5. Paradise Lost isn't as bad as I remember it.  You think that's because I've already read it once?

6. I've been thinking about a short story I wrote my senior year of highschool, about a blind boy and the other kid who has a crush on him.  I'm kind of scared to reread it, though.  Should I give it a try?  (Same question about my vampire story and my screenplay.)

7. There's such an awesome line-up this week!  Leverage, Supernatural, Psych.  I watched the first two discs of season 4 SN and remembered how much I love the boys. *glee*

3. If it's not working for you then I'd go with sticking with what is working. Post that, and you can always add to it later. I'm fairly sure the rules don't say you have to rewrite the entire movie... I hope they don't anyway!! :)

6. There is a good chance that you won't like it - time does have a habit of showing up the weaknesses in things, but I believe they'll be awesome!!

I prefer Gen by far. I'm okay with slash as long as I can see it as not out-of-character for the characters involved (Jack/Ianto, hell yeah!). Wincest, to me, is out of character, same with Dean/Castiel or Dean/OMC, but I know other people see things differently. *shrug*

The other thing is, I avoid most things with pairings (het, slash or femmeslash) because most of the time it's relationship-focused or porn. I rarely do 'ships and don't have much use for porn. In many cases it seems like the writer can't figure out how to write a close friendship without resorting to sex.

That said, I might give yours a shot because I'm not familiar with most of the characters, I know that you know how to write close non-sexual relationships and I trust you as a writer to have a purpose for including material of that nature, either as a part of the plot or as a touchstone for something deeper and/or darker and/or twisted. :-)

Sorry for babbling, it's not a question with a simple yes/no answer for me.

My mom suggested that I could translate a few fics into Spanish as a practice, then have someone read over them and tell me what all is wrong. Would your roommates be amenable to that?

I definitely think I could get one of them to look over some smaller fics... although definitely not slashy stuff, as I would probably get a "WTH" lol. Also, I should mention they are fluent in Spanish because they are from Spanish speaking countries, so as I've been told before they don't always use all the grammar rules that Americans do when teaching Spanish in the U.S. ... but if that doesn't matter then I'm sure one of them would be happy to read over something. :o)
