Heh. One of my own greatest peeves. (I have actually edited bulletin board notices from the boss - adding an apostrophe and an "e" and the end to the incorrect "your")
Someone out there has an icon that has (among other things) -
When the English teacher used to pass out worksheets for us to do, I felt the need to correct every mistake I found, even when that wasn't the assignment. They just drove me crazy.
I can't count the number of times in public my hands *ITCH* to edit errors. ("Ladie's" - REALLY????)
Oh, and back in college I used to fantasize with another grammar guru girl on my team about proofing our class handbook (created by the - at that point, much-hated, by ALL of us - teacher). We actually did quite a few pages and individual handouts over the course of the semester - as stress release!
I have a hard time with that... (remembering what context their is used) but I have an awsome Beta and thats why I use and love her! (she makes me look smart on paper!)
And earlier today I read a story that was otherwise quite good, but the author kept putting two R's in "staring". Very annoying. Once is a typo, three or four times is ignorance.
I haven't memorized how to put links in comments, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now, so I'll just copy and paste the URL here: http://zelost-mind.livejournal.com/14789.html?style=mine
It's an otherwise decent story--not the best I've read, but I liked it well enough. The "starring" thing though--it pulled me out of the story and eventually I started waiting for the author to use the word again so I could see if she? misspelled it again.
It's a Teen!Dean loses his virginity story, which I always like. :)

"They're" is used in "They're running late, George, so we'll need to wait."
"There" is used in "I left the machine-gun over there."
And if you knew that, I beg pardon.
