My baby sister is GETTING MARRIED NEXT WEEK. How is this a thing that’s happening? Why is anyone allowing this? Oh my god, how have we gotten so old?! She is GETTING MARRIED.

So i'm mostly out of the Marvel fandom for reasons i'll go into if asked, but i didnt see Age of Ultron and since about halfway through last year i stopped wanting to see Civil War, too. But people i follow on tumblr keep posting/reblogging stuff, and that's fine, i just skip it.

And then i decided to read a reaction/recap post and they just offhandedly referenced something that is one of the reasons i left the fandom, and when i asked someone for clarification, their explanation is even worse.

I am not seeing Civil War. God, i'm just so angry. I love certain characters so much, and that hasn't changed. But i am no longer mentally in a place where i can deal with the reality of their canon.

Defending my thesis at 2pm. Scared shitless. Wish me luck!

So every time I come home, I turn the corner and expect to see my apartment door wide open and having been burgled.

I also expect to find cat pee any and everywhere.

I have an excellent reason for the latter: my cat gets UTIs all the time and is also very territorial. I’ve learned to keep everything off the floor.

For the first, my childhood home was robbed not even a month after I and my belongings moved out.

So, for both of those, there is a sensible reason, yes?

However, every time I open my car’s trunk, I expect to find a dead body, even though I have never left a dead body in my trunk. It’s just a momentary wonder and a tiny sense of relief when there is not in fact a dead body in the trunk.

And, every time I open a stall door in a public bathroom? I ALSO expect, for just a second, to find a body.

Thankfully, of these four expectations, only the cat pee has ever borne out. I have no idea why I keep expecting to find dead bodies.

Another note: I wrote 56000 words in three months and then decided nobody but me cared about it so I stopped writing because it stopped being fun. But I WANT to finish this fic for myself, if nobody else. I have the entire damn thing plotted out, after all, and that's only happened once before, on a story half this length. And I still have half the plot go, so no telling how long it's going to be.

Still another note: what I have of this is the longest thing I've ever written, including my thesis. I'm doing research (since I was just making shit up for a medieval, magical realism society) and I changed the title from what it originally was, and I'm going to reread all 56000+ words in the near future because I do dearly love this 'verse. And also, once it's finished, all I have to change are the names and it'll be an original novel, so.

Anyway.

Fantasy AU where Crown Prince Louis has to choose a suitor, four of whom are Prince Liam, Lord Niall, Prince Zayn, and Harry the apprentice cook. Meanwhile, there’s a treasonous conspiracy afoot.
