(Wild card) can't take it, revenge would have been expected and infinitely preferable to mercy.

Date: 2009-05-19 03:12 pm (UTC)Everyone they've ever known--Ellen, Bobby, Jefferson and Joshua, Jo--any hunter who helped them, gave them shelter, all of them are dead. Quick, merciful deaths. No pain, no lingering torture.
But they aren't Winchesters, so the death is final. No demon deals, no angelic miracles--just whatever comes next for people who aren't cursed with Campbell-Winchester blood.
Sam is crying, big gulping sobs that shake his entire frame. He's begging for punishment, for forgiveness, for some way to make it better.
He wasn't possessed. Dean knew that from the beginning. He wasn't possessed, but his darker side got away from him, took over, went on a spree and killed nearly a hundred a people, starting with Bobby and ending with Missouri. She actually held him off long enough for Dean to get there.
Enough of Sammy remained in the darker half that Dean went untouched. He still isn't really sure how to feel about that.
"Kill me, please," Sammy pleads. "I--Look what I did, Dean! It was me. Please. Either kill me or let me go do it myself."
Dean kneels next to him, reaches out and places his hands on Sam's face. "If you kill yourself, Sammy," he whispers, "I'll bring you back again. Or I'll blow my brains out. Maybe that's what I should'a done last time."
Sam stares at him, face blotchy and tear-stained. "Please," he murmurs.
Dean rests his forehead against Sam's. "It'll be okay, Sammy," he says. "It'll be okay. I got you."
Sam sags against him and Dean willingly takes the weight.
