1. I have, in fact, found a full time job as an editor (well, assuming I pass the drug test, and there is no earthly reason why I wouldn't). It's in the same building where [livejournal.com profile] tigris_lilsis and [livejournal.com profile] tigremere work, except they'll be doing engineering type things.

2. Also, [livejournal.com profile] tigris_lilsis and I have an apartment lined up; we should be moving in around the middle of June. That is both exciting and terrifying, because I do want my own space. But still. Terrifying.

3. Did I mention my 3.6 GPA for my first semester of grad school? I still can't quite believe it.

4. My great-aunt's memorial is this weekend. Then we're going to the beach next week to scatter part of her ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. The rest of her ashes will eventually be brought to Hawaii and scattered in the ocean there. It's, apparently, where she was the happiest.

5. I really enjoyed Star Trek Into Darkness, despite all the flaws. What I want now is a movie where Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston play criminal brothers. That'd be awesome.

6. I've been working on commentary for the entirety of 'a taste of lightning.' Would anyone be interested in that? I now want to do commentary for my Klaine serial killer AU, and possibly 'I was thinking of a son' or the Glee Sky High AU. *shrugs* Any requests?

7. So... a while back, I started a fic where the new Spider-man and Skyfall's Q were Nari and Váli, which made them Loki's kids. I think I got a thousand or so words into it and then life happened and I forgot about it. Does that sound like something I should continue?
tigriswolf: (mother)
So, I wrote this poem this morning, in about 50 minutes. I made a few minor changes when I got back from Iron Man 3 (WHICH IS AWESOME, SO AWESOME) and now I'm tossing it out here. *shrugs* I really do love writing poetry.

happily never after )

My final grades for my first semester at grad school are two definite As and an almost-definite B! I'm so happy. *dances*

ETA: 2 definite As and a definite B! *still dancing*

Does anyone want any DVD commentary on one (or more) of my fics? I'm in the mood to be distracted from Syntax, and apartments, and various other things I don't want to think about.

Watching videos of Tom Hiddleston being adorable and awesome makes me want to write Loki again. Also, I should've been in bed hours ago; I have work&school tomorrow. *sigh*
tigriswolf: (Puss in Boots)
So, someone left me a comment yesterday, which I read after a long, somewhat unpleasant day, while the end of the semester is looming and I'm burnt out, and I've got RL issues, and I've spent weeks researching what turns out to be a three page paper that's due next week, (three pages! I wrote that much for fun on Tuesday), and now I just don't feel like writing. I don't know if it's because of the comment, because I'm burnt out, or what.

But I was told to put the pen down yesterday, amongst other things, and maybe it's because I have a period-induced migraine, but I don't want to write at the moment. And I've been having fun all week writing about Peter Hale and Stiles Stilinski as serial killers (which Anon took offense to, apparently). And I write for myself, not other people, but it's nice to know that other people think I'm doing something right, and I don't understand why people feel compelled to say the things they say.

*sigh* I just feel like crap. I have three papers, a syntax project, and a syntax finale. I'm not sure if I have a full time job this summer or not, I'll be moving out of my parents' house, and I have to worry about other people doing stuff that I have no control over but will affect my life. This isn't the time to tell me i'm a terrible writer and someone has no idea why other people like what I write.

I don't give a fuck what Anon thinks, because Anon is Anon, and seriously, why would you read it three times to decide if it sucks or not? You know right away. But still.

I'm tired. I feel like crap. And I have to go work on my Beauty & the Beast paper. It's due a week from yesterday, 6-8 pages double-spaced. (Double-spaced. That's like 3 pages, which I wrote on Tuesday - 2000 words of Peter Hale, Stiles Stilinski, and Derek Hale getting revenge on the Argents. Which Anon didn't bother to read, because they just looked at the first chapter.) And a final reflection on what I learned in Politics of Literacy (I'm so glad I went to the school I went to, even with all its problems, of which there were many) which is half done, and a syntax paper and a syntax project and a final. And that's it. Two more weeks and my first semester at grad school is done.

I'm so tired.

1. She said the answer.

2. She mumbled the answer.

3. She shouted the answer.

4. She cried the answer.

5. She affirmed the answer.

tigriswolf: (the writer's art)
So, I have a paper to write for my syntax class and I was wondering if any of y'all would be willing to fill out a worksheet for me.

I want to write about the word 'say' and all its variations (like 'shout' and 'mumble' and a lot more), so I'm going to make a worksheet with a shitload of sentences. Something like,

1. "Oh, do be quiet," she said.

2. "Oh, do be quiet," she whispered.

3. "Oh, do be quiet," she shouted.

What I would need from y'all is for y'all to write what each sentence means to you and how it compares to the rest (like, the difference between whispered & shouted, you know?). I wouldn't need your real names, but I do need your age and first language, whether or not it's English.

The paper is due May 8, but I haven't made the worksheet yet. (I just got the idea today, and I'm way more excited for it than any other idea I've had for the this paper.)

So... do this sound like something anyone would be interested for doing for me?

tigriswolf: (wolfpack)
Why am I worldbuilding an ancient werewolf pack in a part of the world I'm really not that familiar with? Like, at all. And I keep just grabbing random names from different places, because the pack stretches from Russia to Spain, and it's got tendrils in all of the countries on the Asian and European continents, and connections to Africa/the Middle East, and really, this is just not a pack you want to fuck with.

And the alpha's younger daughter just heads off to the US because her magic tells her that she'll find something she's been looking for there, so not much of the fic actually takes place in the Old World (as the magis call the pack's territory) (magis being magic-users: mages, who have inner magic, and witches who pull magic from the world around them). But I still feel the need to worldbuild, going back four generations.
