So, yesterday I finished the reincarnated!Merlin at Hogwarts story.

Then, when I got up this morning, I realized that his second year would involve Umbridge. And I kinda wanna write it.

Someone tell me not to. Because it would be the muggleborn boy who accidently released the dragons and the Toad in the same room at the same time – which would be bad for everyone. *shudders*

I’m pretty sure Umbridge wouldn’t survive.

Prompt:

Clint is sent on a solo mission and is captured. He spends a long time in captivity, enduring terrible things. As the time goes by and no one comes for him, Clint starts to believe that the rest of the team and SHIELD have forgotten about him/doesn't care. (Would like the rest of the team to actually be searching, or Fury being a bastard and doesn't tell them what happened to Clint.)

So, seeing no way out, Clint gives up and resigns himself to his fate.

Enter Loki.

When Clint wakes up, he is clean, warm, not hurting and feels safe. And Loki can't be a bad guy when he just rescued Clint from hell, can he? And Clint has no idea how to repay his former enemy for that, but he sure is going to try.

He can’t even recall his name, but he knows, deep in his aching bones, that Tasha would never leave him. But she isn’t here. She hasn’t come for him. )

Does anyone know how many students actually attend Hogwarts every year?

According to the wiki, in Harry's year there are 8 Gryffindors, 9 Slytherins, 8-10 Hufflepuffs, and 10 Ravenclaws. But in Goblet of Fire, only 4 Gryffindors, 2 Slytherins, 4 Hufflepuffs, and 2 Ravenclaws are Sorted.

(Were there only five Gryffindors in Harry's parents' year? With Lily the only girl?)

This makes it very difficult to write a fic not about Harry and his peers. Do I just make characters up? Or ignore how imbalanced it seems?

Will Schuester has never quite known what to make of Kurt Hummel. Kurt was such an enigma – he appeared so fragile, but every time Will ever tried to help, Kurt looked at him with ice in his gaze. That was why Will started looking past the bullying.

“He has two now,” Mac tells him. “His little brothers, Evan and Gunther. Except, Evan is also Van and his son, and Gunther is Gunnar, and Van’s brother, but not Ashton’s son.” Mac sips his scotch, studying the patrons of the bar, while Joe tries to untangle that. He serves a few regulars and when he turns back to Mac, Mac continues, “Evan is a gifted warrior. He’s been exceedingly well trained. And Gunther – I saw the beginning of some kind of style, I think, but he prefers overwhelming by sheer strength, which he has in abundance.”

He never talked to Selvig about it. Or any of the others, those few who weren’t bought with promises of sitting beside Loki in the new world or the money Loki magicked out of thin air. He read the files, though. Read the files and wondered if they’d been lying to the shrinks, too.

Years pass. Harry Potter does not show up for First Year, Second, or Third. Dumbledore spun it the best way he could, but the people’s faith in him is wavering. Every year without their beloved Boy Who Lived unweaves another thread of his power over the populace.

“If I want to stay at Hogwarts. I probably won’t, but you never know.” He shrugged, rubbing at Gwaihir’s ear. His shifting accents were disconcerting. “It’ll give Da and Dad time to clean up some unfinished business if I’m hidden away for awhile, but it’ll be my choice at the end. Dad’s already taught me a lot, anyway.”

After the funeral, Loki goes to ground. He takes the form of a small child, the better to be underestimated, and lets himself be found by a librarian in upstate New York. She follows all procedures and Loki is inducted into the foster system. He does not speak to any of the humans who interact with him; they give him a new name, Vincent Gage, based on criteria he does not care about, and bandy about terms that have no meaning.

Commentary on my Rapunzel story, for [livejournal.com profile] lizzie_marie_23.

I wrote this in – well, I honestly can’t remember. But I first posted it in 2006. I remember sitting in a classroom writing it, but I can’t recall if it was high-school or college. I was probably either a senior or freshman. *shrugs*

Some of the comments are from the pov of a writer who has evolved in the six(ish?) years since writing this. Some are notes about what I remember while writing this. I really hope none of them bother you.

fic help?

tigriswolf: (a surprise)
Is anyone willing to look over what I have of an Avengers fic and tell me what the hell the plot is or where it's going? I have no idea what I'm doing with it, but I dearly love it.
tigriswolf: (Default)
sir, sire, and sure are all different words, and will change the meaning of the sentence.

1. I'm really bummed The Finder wasn't renewed. It's such a cute show.

2. I just finished my first week working as assistant editor at an engineering research facility. It’s only twenty hours a week (the position was designed for a graduate student, who wouldn’t be able to work full-time. The hours will probably multiple as more things needing to be edited come in.) I had a lot of fun. (I've happily left the place that fired me for the rule so many others flaunted.)

3. So, I wrote some more in the Harry Potter/Merlin fic, but I hit a snag: what plot do I actually want to have? The whole reason I started it was to see Merlin set the dragons free. That’s already happened. Any thoughts?

4. I saw The Avengers again! I really like Loki. And Hawkeye. And Black Widow pwns all, yo.

5. I’m working on two Avengers fics. In one, spoiler for film ) In the other, someone kills Thor while wearing Loki’s shape. I have so many ideas! I love that movie.

6. About my health issues – I’m not a hundred percent better, but I am very improved. As best we can figure, it was an inner ear virus that threw off my balance. The only cure? Time.

7. Give me Avengers recs, please! Or excited squeeing. I’ll take either.

So, [livejournal.com profile] tigris_lilsis had this idea and now I want an animated icon: Michael Clarke Duncan smiling and looking all happy, then the next part is him looking all scary, with the text don't poke the bear. *hee* It'd be awesome.
