1. I'm in grad school now. I think it's going pretty good. Politics of Literacy is already pissing me off because of so much stuff I didn't know.

2. I'm back as assistant editor at the place I worked last May to November. They're also paying for me to go to grad school. I won't actually get a paycheck until Feb 21, though.

3. So, I created a tumblr awhile ago that I did nothing with. I'm now posting pictures to it. Every picture is one I took, though there are hundres more I'm not posting. *shrugs* After reading and writing, photography is my favorite thing.

4. I hurt my knee in late November 2012. The doctor told me I had tendonitis and prescribed weight loss, so I joined weight watchers at the end of the year.

5. I bought Teen Wolf for myself earlier this month because so many of my favorite authors write fic for it, and the gifs intrigued me. I've spent the past week devouring fic on Ao3. Stiles is awesome. (I haven't started season 2 yet, though.)

6. No, really, Politics of Literacy is severely pissing me off. Also, I'm going to have to read Hunger Games for Fantasy and Folklore and I really don't want to.

7. I haven't been writing much. The closest thing I have to a grandmother is still dying. I spend some days in a haze of what I think might be depression; that apparently runs in the family. I'm passive-aggressive a lot and should work on that. I sometimes think about driving my car off the road and into the creek I pass over every day, to and from school/work. *shrugs* (I might be in a funk right now.)

So, I’ve never liked the song ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Mis. Like, never. I’ve heard the original Broadway version (via CD), Susan Boyle, a local production, Rachel and her mom from Glee – and I haven’t liked any of them.

Then I heard Anne Hathaway in the Les Mis preview and I shivered. I’ve wanted to cry every time I see a preview for that movie because of how haunting that song is.

tigris_lilsis said it’s because Anne Hathaway is acting the song, not just singing it. She’s not doing the big, sweeping thing – she’s dragging that song down into her pit of despair, and it works. It really REALLY works.

And then I saw a little TV spot about the movie, and it turns out? That’s how every song in the movie is performed. Not lip-synching to previously recorded songs they did. No, they’ve performed every take live, so each song is acted.

Dudes. Les Mis is pretty much my favorite soundtrack ever. I can listen to pretty much every song over and over and over again.

This movie is going to kick ass.

The first time Blaine touches Kurt’s hand, that very first day, the innocent spy on the stairs, he wonders, What do you think I am?

If Arthur had the choice, he'd lock himself in his grandfather's library and teach himself magic.

Kurt Hummel is possibly the least fragile person Sue Sylvester has ever met. He’s got this core of steel in him, tempered in the heart of a volcano, and the way he looks at people, sometimes, like he could rip out their throats and keep walking – well.

All Lucy ever wanted was to be beautiful and lovely and happy. Of those three, beautiful was the most important, so she worked hard and begged her parents and remade herself as Quinn - beautiful Quinn all the boys want and all the girls want to be.

Because of his bloodline, Blaine was allowed to wear a hat in class. He usually didn’t; at his old school, he hadn’t been able to because of the equality laws. Before high-school, he hadn’t needed to. It wasn’t until the bullying really took off, right before the Sadie Hawkins’ dance, that his bloodline kicked in.

The first class with Professor Umbridge went well enough, Emrys thought. He copied down the course aims and read the assigned chapter quickly. No one wanted to draw Professor Umbridge’s attention because her shouting match with Harry Potter had already made the rounds.

“Let me guess,” Blaine says, slumping down next to Kurt on Alec’s couch, “this week, we’re, uh, stealing the Crown Jewels to feed orphans in – um, some war-torn country somewhere?”

WHY THE HELL AM I WRITING A FIC WHERE BLAINE IS THE SON OF THE DEVIL AND KURT'S MOM WAS AN ANGEL?

Like, I have no idea where the story is going or what the plot is, and so far the only thing that's happened is Klaine meeting along with, you know, centuries of backstory writ large - I don't even know if it's a Supernatural crossover or not.

I just started writing it about an hour ago - why?
