Bucky’s alive, has been alive all this time, and every now and then there’s someone else in his eyes, someone dark and cold, but Bucky always comes back. And he won’t tell Steve about it, but he talks to Natasha because the same people had them, took her as a little girl and found him in the mountains, and Bucky and Natasha, they’re the greatest weapons those bastards ever made, but Natasha and Bucky, wearing identical smiles, said their masters were dead, and Clint nodded. Clint nodded because he was there, he had their backs when the Red Room bled out, while Steve was still in the ice.

I won’t let us die, Winter Soldier tells him. Bucky can feel Winter Soldier dodge, throw a knife, jump, and hit the water in a perfect dive.

He’s a case of textbook domestic abuse, and he knows how to use that. Plays the pitiful, beaten down boy and the hardened survivor just looking for the right person to heal him. Aleksei Lebedev was not an immortal who slipped through the cracks. He had no buzz at all, those thirty years he aged like a mortal and worked for Red Room. He was the primary handler for the weapon no one ever spoke of; he conducted most of the tests, wrote most of the reports, wiped the mind and put the weapon to sleep for years at a time.

So, does anyone else want an Avengers AU where Methos is Fyrstr from my fic ‘a taste of lightning’ and Clint has been loyal to him the whole time? And Methos is Loki’s dad, who gave him to Odin to raise because he figured being a prince would be better than the son of a wandering vagabond, and he’d been protecting Asgard with his power for about ten thousand years. And when things started going south, Odin didn’t call on Methos for help, and the whole Chitauri thing happened…

Clint is one of the very first things Methos ever made, from back before humanity’s ancestors crawled out of the sludge, and he’s been sorta stationed on Earth for a very long time. And he went with Loki because he knew who Loki was and wanted to keep an eye on him. And when Methos steps in, before Loki&Thor return to Asgard, Clint reveals himself to have been his the whole time.

Methos calls Clint ‘Raptor’ and he’s so furious with Odin that he doesn’t even give him the dignity of being killed by Fyrstr: he sends Clint to him for a swift execution. (Clint predates Odin by about a billion years. And he’s awesome.) And Fyrstr removes his protection from Asgard’s borders because he gave Odin the most precious thing of all and Odin severely fucked up.

Anyway. I’ve been having fun making up versions of this in my head for weeks. I really wish someone would write it for me.

So, an exciting afternoon = it’s storming, you hear thunder and see lightning at the exact same time, and then you smell smoke. So you wander around your house, trying to figure out where it’s coming from, and then your little sister and you decide to check outside, to see if anything’s happening on the roof. So, your little sister takes the front, you take the back, she opens the door and shouts, “Call 911! There’s a house on fire!”

So while I called, tigris_lilsis ran over to see if she could help.

There’s a house on fire across the street. I was the second person to call 911, the first being a construction worker who saw the lightning strike and called while running over, where he proceeded to kick down the door and make sure no one was home.

tigris_lilsis and I watched as the smoke got worse, changed color, and then flames were licking at the roof. Four fire trucks, two fire marshal SUVs, and an ambulance showed up, which caused traffic problems because two roads into our neighborhood are blocked due to construction.

The mailman kept on delivering his mail, and I could feel the heat when I grabbed ours.

It was… exciting. Holy crap.
